1st Overall swap for 3rd overall

People keep talking about how Colorado will be taking a defenceman however, their offence was bottom 5 in goals scored and are stacked in centers this trade would do wonders for their offence.

Drouin (3rd Overall)
Purcell
Brewer
2nd Round Pick
Aulie

for

1st Overall (Jones)

Two impact top six players, and two top4 / #5 dman.

Not an Avs fan. Know the answer will be no. Jones is what they wanted and it's now what they'll get. None of the proposed players will add to the Avs core going forward like Jones will.

Tampa starts talking that 3rd overall and Hedman. Well that's a whole different thread. Most likely never to happen.

The Avs couldn't score because they're forwards are fast and their defenseman are slow and can't move the puck. There is no need for Purcell, Brewer is way too old for my liking, Aulie probably wouldn't crack our defense corps, and the other pick isn't that valuable. No thanks, we'll take Jones

Edit: And if the Lightning want dmen, why not trade down and draft either Ristolainen or Nurse? Because it'd cost a hefty, hefty price to move up from 3 to 1

Lol no. You can take Brewer for free, though.

We need Jones so no thanks. I'd be stoked with Drouin, don't get me wrong, but Jones is a larger need and has the potential to be a franchise defender. Yes we were bottom 5 this year in scoring, but nothing went right at all this year really. I believe the offense will be a lot better next year now that Sucko is gone. Anyways, I really hope we draft Seth

I don't see the appeal of a big pile of "meh" assets. Keep the 1st.

No deal. Our forwards are fine its our D who cant get the puck up to our fast forwards thats the problem. I think Seth Jones can help out in this area. Plus a new coach who hopefully is experienced and knows what the hell hes doing.

Something along the lines of Stastny + #1 for Hedman + #3.

That would get the ball rolling for me personally. Anything else though and I wouldn't be interested from the Avs POV. We wont trade that pick unless were getting a really good young Dman + another asset.

Avs need just as much help on the wing as they do on D. It's an interesting thought to address this by moving down and drafting Drouin while getting other players, I'm just not sure the proposal has the right ones. I would do something like

Avs 1st + ???

for

Tampa 1st + Hedman

I'm just not sure what it would take for the Avs to pull that trade with Tampa.

That would be pretty ridiculous.

I don't think either side would do that though. Both sides like there guy a lot and don't need to move them.

I don't think they would. Trades involving Duchene or Stamkos just are not going to happen.

They're not going to happen because Yzerman isn't a moron. Stamkos is twice the player Duchene is now.
