Leaning towards yes on this as well, Couturier would be a spectacular addition to our center depth.

I think all the other Goligoski talk has me skewed on this deal. When I really think about it, I would definitely do this. I think it's the pick more than anything. It just seems like one of those deals you know would work out for both teams. Philly can grab Ristolainen and get Goligoski and we get a prospect already developed who is that "blue chip" we have needed for a while. He might benefit from a change of scenery too and Dallas seems to have always been good for that.

Interesting proposal, but I really hate to part with Sean. I do like the value. Where does Dallas pick in the 1st? Just saw it was 10. Very interesting indeed.

I'd do this trade. We get ourselves a good young center and a 2nd round pick. Yes, we lose the #10 pick, but I think that we'll be able to draft some serviceable players with all of the early picks we'll have (possibility of 3-2nd Rounders and 1-1st or 4 -2nds depending on how Boston finishes in the playoffs).

As a Flyers fan, I would hate to lose Couts. But for this kind of deal, I would do it. Having a draft of adding Goligoski, Risto and say Zadorov would certainly go a long way to overhauling the defense in the future.

Kimmo Schenn
Goligoski Coburn
Grossmann Mez
Gus

Then with Risto, Zadorov and Ghost on the way. Not too bad.

I'm a huge believer in Couturier. Still sticking to my belief that he's one of the top 3 players drafted in 2011-2012 combined, possibly the best. He's already shown elite skills on the defensive side of the puck, and I'm almost certain his offense will follow suit with experience and more ice time.

I also think Goligoski is underrated around here, and his perceived value isn't as high as it actually is. I also think there's a good chance we get a top notch center prospect at #10. But with this trade... Not only do we clear out our logjam on D, but we also add that big, skilled, blue-chip center we need so badly. Even if his offense doesn't pan out, he's at worst a near-elite 3rd line center. I hate to give up the only guy on our blue-line with real offensive talent, but I think we can afford to lose him. Especially for a guy like Couturier.

This obviously makes us worse now, but I think we'll be much better off in the future after this.

All you have to do is look at this:

To see why Philly would do it.

I think if Couts turns out to be an elite 3rd liner, then it's a horrible loss for Dallas. Cody Eakin has that role for us.

I wouldn't be opposed to a core shakeup, and if Goose and Loui can get us two top 6 centers, I'm all for it.

At the very worst he's an elite 3rd line center. I'd be stunned if he doesn't get better than that.

I've never really seen him play? How's his size? I know some Stars fans were straying away from Gagner idea because he's small.

Also, does he have #1C potential, because I think Faksa makes for a great #2C

He shut down Malkin last year in the playoffs, was a huge reason for their success.

If you just watch him, you can see his talent offensively, he's just playing too important of a role for Philly right now. I think he just needs more ice time and more of a chance to shine offensively for that to really blossom.

He's 6'3", 197 lb. A bit thin, but that can be addressed with some work in the weight room.

I'd definitely say so. I personally think he can put up 65-70 points in the right situation without sacrificing too much defensively. Not an elite #1 center, but a solid one. Tossing Faksa in at the #2 spot and Eakin at #3 would give us some great two-way depth down the middle.

Just out of curiosity .. why are Flyers fans willing to move a young forward like Couturier?

We have Scott Laughton in the system who got a look this year and looked like he could have played this year rather then back in Jr's but had no room in the lineup for him aside from 4th line duties. He's pretty much penciled in to the lineup already for next year which means either him or Couturier, or Schenn are moving to wing unless one of them is moved. With all the Center depth even though Couturier may be our most valuable C behind Giroux, we have Laughton to fill his role. And Schenn is already playing as a solid 2nd line C. So basically all in all Flyers fans feel like Couturier is going to be pigeonholed into a 3C position and is the best trade bait we have to fix our biggest position of need, in having a puck moving d-man who can eat minutes

I ****ing hate thinking about moving Couturier because I think he has #1C potential (but will most likely be a #2C) but I'd reluctantly do it.

Flyers pick up a PMD which they desperately need and add the 10th overall. That could give them ammo to move up to grab one of the elite (Barkov, etc.) or stand put and draft the two best players at 10 and 11.

Laughton could slot in Couturier's spot.

Wow, first time since the Carter to Columbus proposals that I've seen a Flyers trade accepted by both fanbases. Great job OP.

Tough decision but yes. Picking twice at 10 and 11 would be great. Goligoski is obviously a nice pick up as well, with the flyers offense first system I think he could be a 40+ pt guy here

What about Laughton and 2013 second for Goligoski?

Having the 10th and 11th pick would be nice, but I still think Couturier has 15 years of great hockey ahead of him and don't want to trade him now. I want to see him given a chance as the 2C with Schenn moved to the wing.
