Healthy Scratches

Dougie Hamilton, Aaron Johnson and Carl Soderberg all not on the ice for Bruins morning skate. Scratches for tonight's Game 1. #BruinsTalk

Opinions about Dougie being scratched?

I understand Clode's penchant for trusting vets over rooks, but if I were the coach, I'd have Dougie in there, see how he does, especially after sitting out the last few.

so no Pev and no Soder and no Hamilton on a team that can't score goals?

Well if we have no offense in game one things better change for game two.

Can't say I'm surprised.

I've said from the get go that Soderberg | Hamilton wouldn't start game 1. I do have a feeling, we will see one of them by game 3 though....especially when Redden gets blown past by one of Kessel or Lupul.

I understand it, but Dougie has been pretty solid on the offensive side of the puck. I think that it would be tough if the Bruins struggle the first two games because if there were any ideas of having Dougie start the playoffs on the road, it would be A) a hell of a crowd in Toronto to debut in the playoffs, and B) tougher to get better matchups not having the last change.

Bri I have a strong suspicion that Doug might be injured. Claude has said right along that he's resting Doug, that it isn't a he's playing badly issue. But this has been going on for awhile now....

It could be worse guys...

Clode could have called up Whitfield and plop him on the third line. But I should be careful. Prov ain't doing too well. He might be a black ace soon enough.

Could also be that he's exhausted. I understand he is 19, but the kid played MOST of the OHL season, played in the world juniors, and then played a half season in the NHL. He's played twice as much hockey as anybody else on this roster. You have to think it has gotten to him.

Or perhaps he's hit a rookie wall and is no longer playing solid hockey.

If our PP continues to struggle with him in the lineup and Jagr added to the top line...what else does he bring to the table?

IF that's the case (or as BMC suggested, injury) then hard to argue with Clode. And, yes, at 19 he is still a pup. If that's not the case, I dunno...I like the team that began the season with Dougie a whole lot better than the one that ended it without him. (Not suggesting he's the sole reason but...)

It will be interesting to watch. Perhaps he'll have a "Seguin moment(s)" at some point.

Yes, Claude has referred to this as well. But IDK Hamilton has missed quite a few games lately, I can't help but wonder if he isn't also nursing an "undisclosed" injury.

Not that we'd get a straight answer from Claude, PC or anyone else in the Bruins organization about it.

The only reason the Bruins (and it's Chiarelli who makes those moves, not Julien) have used Whitfield in the past is because of injuries. You might recall that in the 2010 playoffs players were dropping like flies. The urban myth that he's a "Clode" pet or something is maddening. Enough already.

Was that the year that Whitfield was in the lineup over Brad Marchand?

So someone fill me in. If Soderberg is the only one out, which of Horton or Jagr isn;t going to go tonight?

Can't have Daugavins, Peverely, Thornton, Jagr and Horton in. another needs to sit to get to 12.
