Thanks for clarifying the part about Mackenzie as well. I can thankfully disregard his draft rankings now because he hasn't seen Lazar play as much as you.
the guy (Bob Mac or GOD) works for tsn and has access to all broadcast footage of pretty much any hockey team in NA. Everyone has in house cameras. I know quite a few people in the industry and am told he watches hockey around 7 hours of hockey footage a day. Its his job. No other sport, no other knowledge needed...JUST HOcKEY. He just watches, and watches, and watches.

I trust Bob Mac on pretty much anythin he puts his name to. If he stamps his name on something i consider it gold.

His draft rankings are compilations of league lead scouts. Nothing is certain in the draft but its nice to get a near concensus from employed NHL amat scouts who do nothing but watch these guys.

Part of this has to do with who was picked in the spots ahead of these guys.

I'd take Monahan over Ryan Strome anyday. Strome has the numbers in junior but nowhere near the complete game that Monahan has.

Of course all of this is with the benefit of hindsight realtive to the 2011 draft. AT the time it was not veiwed to be a particularly great draft. MacGregor suggested that the 2013 draft is the best he has been involved in. While it may not turn out that way perception going into the draft is what sets the value of the picks not what happens years down the road.

I don't know if this is exactly what you are looking for... but a few "composite" rankings can be found here from various ranking sources:

http://nhlnumbers.com/2013/4/13/2013...eri-nichushkin

and

http://www.mynhldraft.com/2013-nhl-d...spect-rankings

...which make up this:

http://www.mynhldraft.com/2013-nhl-d...ensus-rankings

...and here's a bunch of other ranking links:

Guaranteed to go in the top 5:

Seth Jones
Nathan Mackinnon
Jonathan Drouin

I don't think any of those 3 slide past 5 (pretty sure they'll go 1-2-3).

That leaves Barkov, Monahan, Lindholm, and Nichushkin - We're almost guaranteed to have a decent sized C available to us when we pick. I don't know enough about any of the prospects to really have a horse in this (Mackinnon and Drouin I've seen play quite a bit and would love to have, but that ain't happening), but from what I've read, every one of those kids has the potential to be a top line C - that's pretty exciting.

Matheson said in today's Journal that some scouts think Lazar will probably play wing in the NHL.

I'm no scout, but I could see this happening.

That explosion to cut through the Portland defence was brilliant. Game highlight.

He isn't wrong. Matheson is an idiot and spews out opinions hardly more credible than most posters on this forum.

I could see Lazar breaking in on the wing or as a #3C. But if the Oilers were picking him it would be with the hope that he would play in the middle.

You have read Matheson's comments about Yakupov the past year right? IATL is 100% correct. The guy's an idiot.

A lot of guys that are drafted center get moved to wing. Galchenyuk, Huberdeau and Seguin are recent examples of this.

Fun starts at post #716
http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh...264723&page=29

Four days later you have a headline and an article from the idiot.
At first he mocks the deal then at the bottom of the paragraph, he states that Eriksson could indeed be available.

Eriksson could be in play for a trade for a front-line centre, though.
Its quite sad actually.

The guy is an idiot but it doesn't mean Lazar won't play some wing. He's such a versatile forward that he can play on any line and at any position while still being effective.

Having said that, you never know where a coaching staff will try and play a guy. Nichuskin is probably a winger and Lindholm is probably a center but I could see both of them being converted if the coaching staff gave them the green light.

Doesn't mean it's a good idea but stranger things have happened.

Maybe but those 3 are expected to be top line centers for their respective teams within a couple years.

I know it might be a bit fresh for Oil Kings fans, but the Memorial Cup should be great to watch. Seth Jones, Nathan MacKinnon and Jonathan Drouin all taking part with their respective teams. If London makes it, I'll be interested to see Zadorov and Domi as well.

Saskatoon is probably the oldest team there, but Matt Revel is one 16 year old that's played on the team the entire year and has improved a lot since the beginning of the year. Older WHL prospects for sure, but perhaps a few might be on the Oilers radar for depth.

I'm happy I'll get to take in a few games.

Pretty sure Florida plans to keep Huberdeau at wing.

Especially if they pick MacKinnon.

The silliest thing Matheson wrote today is that St. Louis has two options at goaltender: Either stick with Elliot and trade Halak, or trade for Ryan Miller and drop the other two. He wrote it like those were literally their only options.

So yeah, I can't say I put much weight into anything Matheson says either.

Teubert is worth nothing at all, may as well offer Plante. No way Philly would make that deal. I like Couturier and would endorse exploring going after him for sure but we'll have to pay a price.

I agree. He would be the perfect number 2 center behind RNH and has already 2 yrs of development under his belt along with a pof appearance. I would trade 7th overall(nurse) along with PRV.

I think Philly would want to trade Couturier for a pick as much as we'd want to trade down.

Going to take a top-end NHL defenseman to get him, imo.
