I'm hoping he didn't know he was a FA or else he cannot mock what Feaster does with our picks

Its all good I am sure how you can see a 1st for a unsigned player is crazy. He is a free agent on August 15th so we are trading for 2 months to negotiate a contract, I think a straight up 6th or a conditional 5th is more than fair.

Bob Stauffer ‏@Bob_Stauffer

For those asking @CorbanKnight holds the cards in where he goes. Am told he has family connection to #Flames. Good opportunity for him there

I refuse to get my hopes up. We have been snubbed in this situation by so many guys that we have gone after.

He would have ample room to grow here, there is certainly a spot for him.

From my read-thru, they aren't basing any of their comments on any information we don't have. Just like us, it seems like they're reading way too much into a possibly-ironic comment made two years ago.

Unless I missed something...

With Corban Knight's signing, I think that we can look forward to a centre corps of Stajan, Backlund, Knight and Bouma next year (does Bouma play centre?). Begin could otherwise.

All I really want is a right winger now. Baertschi and Cammalleri can play there I think, and if we sign Stalberg, I'd consider this an offseason well-spent, especially with the addition of another few players through the draft, who won't need to be NHL players next season. Trade Tanguay for futures.

I think the following would be fun to watch:

Glencross-Backlund-Cammalleri
Baertschi-Stajan-Hudler
Stalberg-Knight-Stempniak
Bouma-Begin-MacGrattan

Trade Tangs for futures, I said. Horak as an extra. I don't want him on the fourth line, so if we can clear a few more veterans, we put him in the hole that that creates.

If we don't get Stalberg (probably likely) his spot is right there.

I've seen some great things from him. After Boston's second goal last night, he took a shift with Toews and Bickell and they created some good chances and had a very productive shift. The guy always impresses me with his raw tools, if not his numbers, but he's still young.

anyone that plays with Toews that goes to the net WILL get chances. Case in point Bryan Bickell "the glorified 3rd liner"

Stalberg has top speed but that's about it. Never seems to put his stuff together. If you're tired of the inconsistency of players the last few years, Stalberg will only continue the trend.

I'm talking about Stalberg controlling the puck and setting up chances, not just going to the net and getting the puck. Toews was actually the least noticeable player on that shift. Stalberg was flying.

I understand the consistency point. I think he's basically a younger Rene Bourque. I liked Rene Bourque. I don't think we rely on him at this point, but we give him a chance and see what happens.

I think the key is that a lot of people think the way you do, so his value should be pretty low. If we can sign him for 2 per, I think it's worth the risk (or lack of).

FA targets I'd like the flames to go after and why:

Cal Clutterbuck(RFA)- Clutterbuck is going to want a raise this summer and Minnesota may not have the cap to give that to him, if that is the case and they decide to move him I think he is the perfect player for our team, young, big and can contribute to the team right now and in the future. I would be willing to give Minny pick #28 for Clutterbuck

Clark MacArthur/Bryan Bickel- with rumors that tanguay and cammalerri might both be on their way out I think our team could use another LW to play either the 2nd or3rd line depending on bartschi's play.

Ian White- we need some D depth this summer and Ian white I think would be a good fit. He is familiar with the organization, can pair with giordano and play top 4 mins and can play on the 2nd pp unit with Brodie. Also is still pretty young.

Marc Fistric- Like said above we need D depth and along with a puck moving defender we could also use a big mean one to take sarich's spot and possibly butlers depending on how things unfold.

Viktor Stalberg- Stalberg is someone I think could be a great RW for the 2nd or 3rd line depending on stempniak's play. He is young, quick and has size.

* I would only sign one of stalberg or Clutterbuck cuz we only need one third line RW. I would try first for Clutterbuck but if a deal can't be worked out than Stalberg would be my second choice.

Glencross,stajan,stempniak
Baertchi,backlund,hudler
MacArthur,Knight,Stalberg
Bouma,Horak,Jackman

Brodie,Wideman
Giordano,White
Fistric,Butler/Cundari
Smith

Ramo
Macdonald

I am pretty sure I will get critized by Flames fans for this proposal but I believe it makes sense for both teams ... if anything the Isles would probably reject this proposal

Giordano + 28th pick for Nino Niederreiter + Isles' 15th pick

Say no to Nino. He is already refusing to attend rookie camp, reportedly asked for a trade last year. We don't need that kind of entitled attitude on this club.

Given how the Islander's have used him...

Its not like he didn't want to play for them he played almost an entire season in long island.

I would take him if hes cheap.
