Silf. We need him to step up to be a legit scoring threat on our 2nd line throughout the 1st round.

He faded down the stretch, but I think he'll deliver.

Chris Phillips. That guy goes beastmode in the playoffs, can always count on him to step it up. He's gonna stomp some smurfs.

Alfredsson. He's getting long in the tooth but he loves playing Montreal.

Big bangers are going to be key as well, they need guys like Cowen, Greening, Smith, and Neil to be relentless every game. Especially considering that there will be 3 games in 4 nights to begin the series. Pound their defense every chance, don't cross the line to take penalties, and agitate but don't engage with Subban.

from our team: turris. he needs to get clutch and carry the offense when it's not working. #nopressure

people we need to shut down from MTL: subban, pacioretty

Lats and Pageau.

Two French-Candiens playing against montreal? You'd better believe they're gonna step it up.

guys, i think we need to lower our expectations for latendresse. i cant for the life of me understand the fascination that some here have had for him all year. he has shown very short flashes of skill with his hands. thats about it. he doesnt skate well enough or compete hard enough to be a regular contributor. i bet theres a very good chance he's in the pressbox before long.

Really? This is the fan base where some still believe Peter Regin can solve Ottawa's offense woes. Unrealistic expectations are our bread and butter. That being said I am excited to see how Pageau and Latendresse perform in this series. Two French Canadian guys playing against one of our country's most storied franchises should have a ton of motivation.

The fascination would be from the fact that Latendresse has tons of interesting tools. Big, high hockey IQ, wins board battles, makes smart passes, has finish in close, throws some big checks. He's not quick, but there are other fast players that can make up for that.

As for who will step up, my guess is Silfverberg, Smith, and Cowen.

Karlsson.

Oh, aside from him? Sorry, I've been speaking to Montreal fans all week. I've forgotten the name of every other player on our team.

I'm not especially impressed with Latendresse but I'm not going to start counting him out. Guy was on pace for 37 goals 3 years ago. Netted 25 in 55 games. He's a guy that has potential to step up.

The real guy that needs to be lights out is Anderson.

Lastly the biggest factor IMO will be special teams. We need to get our PP going and it could win us games.

Isn't this the same thread as the "who will step up big in playoffs"?

Gotta be the Andyman. We don't score a lot of goals, he's going to have to be solid and make timely saves. Montreal has speed and skill, they wil get their chances - Andy needs to be there.

Plus, I'm worried about fatigue with our younger guys & how that might continue to affect our scoring.

I can't find this stat - does anyone know where you can see career stats by opponent?

I thought I remembered Uncle Dennis talking about Alfie having 150 pts against the Habs in his career or something
