Return of the Cookie Monster

Cooke returns to CEC. Hope he gets a standing ovation like Staal did.

Thoughts and predictions? Any news on lines?

Matt Cooke has one less goal than Dupuis

Neal returns tonight!

Penguins canceled their morning skate, so no updates today.

WBS didn't call anyone up from Wheeling, so I would imagine that Gibbons goes back shortly to make room for Neal.

Cooke is going to get uproarious applause. Remember the ovation he got in 2011 on fan appreciation day, even though he was suspended? It was almost as loud as the applause Sid got. Fans here are going to love Cooke forever (or at least until he ends a Penguin's career )

Sending back Zolnierczyk would make more sense...plus Gibbons is better. Actually, I don't think they need to send anyone back - Neal was never off the 23-man roster.

And he scored three of his goals in the first five games...

I'm sure Cooke will get a big ovation; Kennedy got a fairly good one.

Shelly Anderson @pgshelly

Dan Bylsma and goalie coach Mike Bales, who had to have gotten home in the wee hours after game at NYR, are watching Wild skate. #Penguins

Not to overlook Mike Rupp and Mike Yeo, who also are on the ice at CEC for the Wild's game-day skate. #Penguins
Oh boy oh boy! Hopefully Mike Yeo can offer up some PP tips for us!

I hope the crowd gives Cookie a nice ovation

He did a few stupidities, but overall he did get better in recent years and he always gave his best and 110% for us

So apparently after tonight's game (at midnight, to be precise), the holiday roster freeze comes into effect. Does that mean we'll have to keep all of WBS in our pressbox while the real Baby Pens play with their fill-ins from Wheeling when our injured people return?

I thought that was only for trades, I dunno if it's for recalls, etc...

Not counting the "goal" for winning a shootout, Minnesota has scored 0, 3, 1, 1, 1, and 2 goals in their last 6 games. With Harding out, even with as injured and exhausted as this team is, you'd think this is one we can get.

But now that Neal is back, watch everything go wrong. I have a funny feeling it's going to be a frustrating night, one like the Colorado game

I'm sure he'll get a good reaction from the crowd. It seemed a lot of people had the attitude that Cookie may have been an idiot at times but he was our idiot and they loved him anyway. I'm sure the Pens will play a nice little tribute video for him too. They did for TK when he came back to town.

I'm not sure. On one hand there's a lot of young legs in the lineup that should be able to handle the back to back situation very well. On the other hand it probably took a ton out of them effort wise to get that win last night in NY given the absence of so much skill.

"It's always emotional," Cooke said. "Especially having success, winning a Cup here, the fans really make you feel like you're a Pittsburgher forever when you win here. They supported me through tough times too. So, I have a special place for Pittsburgh."

Also, is anyone else a little concerned about how the Maatta-Nisky pairing will look tonight? Neither of them are used to the kind of minutes they got last night and it was the first of a back to back. I think Dan really needs to spread the minutes out tonight.
