IIHF Vokoun

ok so we all know that Vokoun didnt have the best of seasons. Ive seen many posters say that they have no faith that Vokoun can take his team to the finals.

so do you think he comes alive and shuts some people up, or will he keep his current streak of mediocrity alive?

I predict he rises to the occasion and has a very solid, if not spectacular tournament.

Vokoun having a HUGE championship.
Stones Andy Roach and the rest of the US team, for a shoot out win over the US.

Save % 94.49, GAA 1.14 so far prior to the semifinal game against Sweden today [Brodeur is 90.00 amd 3.01].

Nice to see him bouncing back from some doubters after an apparently mediocre season in Europe..

Czech win 3-2 in OT to advance to finals against Canada.

Vokoun looked sharp and made some athletic saves in Vintage Vokoun style.

Vokoun and Zidlicky [along with Jagr] named 3 best players for Czech in tournament.

Good luck to our Preds in the final tomorrow.

Catch the game on pay for view webcast on Sunday 2:15 EST at:

Last time to get your hockey Jones taken care of for a while [if you still have one]..

Any ideas as to what Vokoun was going to MacTavish over? Speculation says he was tying MacT and Heatly together in an unfavorable light. Hope for his sake it's not true, might be a melee the next time these two teams meet up if that's the case.

After the cross check action on Smyth nothing but beak at MacT,and of course the apology once he realized Dvorak and Hemsky were there.

Because they are some fearsome players that Dvorak and Hemsky, I'm sure Vokoun was shaking in his shoes.

Doesn't shock me in the least that Vokoun would dish it out, especially if they deserved it. And it appears that Smyth certainly did. Can't speak for MacTavish's involvement, though.

I doubt Vokoun is too concerned. None of the players involved poses a threat of injury to Vokoun when the NHL resumes. And he can hold his own if it does come to that. He went toe to toe with many Flames players, including clocking Iginla a time or two, and was fine. And Calgary is far dirtier than Edmonton with a less classy coach. If he can hold his own against them, I doubt he'll have too many sleepless nights over Edmonton.

Not the point at all, but thanks for playing the game. It's more about him realizing that Dvo and Hemmer have to go back to work under MacT after the celebrations are over. Makes things a little difficult to celebrate when you make politically incorrect statements about a fellow countrymans coach. He probably put himself in thier shoes for a second and realized it wasn't worth it.

Absolutly correct he's probably not concerned one bit, nor should he, be it's not like Laraque is going to be sent after Vokoun although I admit I'd love to see it.

MacT isn't stupid. He won't start a riot with the Preds because it could kill the Oilers playoff chances. If they run Vokoun, there's going to be a huge backlash from Nashville. And while I have no idea who would win an all out brawl, enough key players from each team will either get hurt or be severely suspended, including coaching staff, that it wouldn't be worth it.

Did anybody else happen to see the May 23rd Sports Illustrated?

On a full double page spread [pgs 64-5], there is Tomas with a double pad stack, making another great save on his way to the 3-0 shutout over Canada in the World Cup Finals.

Nice to see "must see TV" finally getting a little love in the media...
