People around here didn't appreciate him until this year. Even though he ended last season on a 17-game point streak with 3 different lines, he got no respect.
I think some people confuse wanting him in a different role with disrespecting him. It's unfortunate, but I personally hold Dupuis in the highest regard but also think the team would be better-served with him on the 3rd line. Not because I think he's a 3rd-liner, but I trust him to carry the 3rd-line offense more than Morrow or Cooke or Sutter or even Iginla.
Negotiations aren't always between 2 parties in my experience. Duppers has a wife and who knows what she's telling him he should do. I have seen many money grubbing women influence a good man's decision making.
I don't think this applies at all considering he took $1.5m for his last contract (hometown discount). Let's be fair, this guy is going to get paid and I would be happy to keep him at many of the dollar values put forward. And, to put it bluntly, I would Dupuis his money ahead of resigning Iginla.
