Knapp is off to a good start in Greenville. He's 2-1-0 with a 1.33 GAA an .957 SV%.
I expect one of the two (Knapp or Makarov) to come back to Roch once Miller is traded and Hackett is called up the Sabres.

That is likely the plan. Though I'd prefer to see Hackett play the entire season in Rochester and get a lot of reps. He's never had more than 44 starts in an AHL season, likely because of Kuemper's presence on the same team in Houston. I want to see if he can handle being The Guy in the AHL before he becomes an NHLer.

Hackett almost lost his starting gig in the AHL in October and has shown to be a loose cannon. Any trade with Miller should probably bring back another goalie.

Let it be FT Wayne! They pretty much win the league every year.
Plus I go often...

Might be a good idea regardless of Hackett's "issues". The big club has Enroth, so Hackett as a backup isn't the worst situation in the world. Still, someone coming back with a goalie with around Hackett's pedigree wouldn't be a bad idea for Roch.

Lieuwen is not an AHL starter, either. The Amerks look like they could be decent and a playoff worthy team. Prying away the starting goalie would not be good. I'm okay with it, provided they get a suitable replacement.

Nowadays, I think Buffalo would have to take a goaltender back. For instance, if he were traded to Colorado, I see either Pickard or Aittokallio coming back.

I don't think there's a specific reason as they were affiliated with Gwinnett the season before last. Personally, I don't even think it's that good of an idea to have one. That way you can assign players to different teams that actually need help in the form of a specific position. Also note that there are only 22 ECHL teams.

My personal opinion is that this is a carry-over from the pre-Pegula days. I can't think of any time that the Sabres had enough players in the minor league system to stock an AHL team plus send players to an ECHL team.

If you're a new fan, it should be noted that because of the 50 contract limit in the NHL, there are not enough ECHL level playes to stock a full team - and since the Sabres rarely exceeded the number to stock an AHL team - there was no need.

I think that has carried over to the present but I do not like Darcy's approach at all here. I think the time has come for the Sabres to affiliate with an ECHL team - so they can follow their own "Sabres University" concept and have these guys part of the Sabre system, exposed to Sabres coaching and trainers so they can develop with the goal of moving up in the Sabres system. Having guys scattered all over the country HAS to make it difficult to keep tabs on them, much less see them.

I always thought that Elmira would make the perfect Sabres partner in that regard. Maybe someday.....

If your a Sabres season ticket holder, you should be receiving your free tickets to the Rochester Americans-Grand Rapids Griffins game (Feb 8 at the First Niagara Center) in the mail either today, Saturday or Monday. (I got my pair today.)

Season ticket holders are allowed to buy additional tickets - located in the 300 Level - for $8.00 (Regular Price is $15.00) prior to tickets going on sale to the public on Friday, Nov 15. Please contact Account Services at 1-888-Go-Sabres - if you would like to order tickets.

11/1 - SYR 5, RCH 4 (F/SO) -- McNabb scores career-high four points in SOL to Syracuse:
Quote:
Despite a career-high four-point game from defenseman Brayden McNabb, the Rochester Americans fell in a shootout by a score of 5-4 to the Syracuse Crunch on Friday night at the War Memorial at Oncenter. The loss moves Rochester’s record to 4-2-1-1 on the season and gives them at least one point in five straight games.

McNabb finished with a goal and three assists to help stake the Amerks to a 4-2 lead entering the third period, but the Crunch were able to rally in the final 20 minutes to force overtime before eventually winning in the shootout.

Jamie Tardif recorded a goal and an assist for Rochester while Phil Varone collected two assists to extend his point streak to eight games and give him a team-high 12 points (2+10) on the season. Luke Adam scored again for Rochester, giving him a team-leading eight goals in eight games, and Alexander Sulzer extended his point streak to five games with an assist. Kevin Sundher rounded out the scoring for the Amerks, who also got a stellar 36-save performance from goaltender Matt Hackett.

What position has Adam been playing during this goal scoring binge?

Varone has been nearly as impressive. Has a point in every game this year

Both him and Adam are really making up for disappointing years last year.

Sulzer - JGL sounds like it would be a hot mess defensively . But Sulzer has been putting up the points in the AHL so far so I guess it works. Wondered how Bagnall dropped to the 3rd pairing though... Maybe they just didn't want to risk JGL - Crawford?

Sulzer has been good. Leduc will bring any defenseman down several notches.

If Kaleta makes it through waivers, how many vets would they have on that team? Seven? If they're ever going to make a run, it's going to be this year.
