How can the Sharks get Galiardi to perform?

With as close as this series has been and how short on depth the Sharks are ...It seems that TJ Galiardi is a very important player and maybe the x-factor right now. The guy is playing with a hall of fame setup man in Thornton and has provided no offense really. All he seems to have done thus far is angered the Kings with all of his trash talking and a few bad penalties. The trash talking is dumb when it's a player who doesn't walk the walk too.

What in the world has to happen to motivate this guy?? Are there any tricks to motivate a guy like that? Is Todd trying stuff? He was looking beastly for a minute there at the end of the season but he needs to pick it up again. Otherwise i don't think the Sharks can win 2 games in a row against the Kings.

Thornton and Havlat needs to sit down and talk with him again. Unfortunately, Havlat has been exiled. So, Marleau needs to offer him his supply of argyle vests to entice him to perform.

He provides almost everything but offense, maybe he just doesn't have it in him. Even when he was looking good at the end of the season, he still wasn't really providing much offense.

He shouldn't be anywhere near a cup contending team's top 6.

Skating lessons? New hands? Talent?

When you are basically playing Shean Donovan on the top time, you can't magically turn him into Jarome Iginla.

Skating isn't his problem, offensive instinct is.

I like the kid, but he belongs on a third line, period.

He needs to bulk up in the offseason, probably the weakest guy on the team on his skates. Always getting muscled off the puck and flopping around like a fish out of water.

He's doing a lot of good things on the ice, and he has been a reason that line has spent time in the offensive zone.. But yes, he is essentially a third liner.

Have Havlat take a couple ibuprofen and put him with Thornton ... throw T.J. back on the third line where he belongs

Ibuprofen is probably too potent for Havlat and would make him miss 5 games

TJ played his worst game as a Shark last night; it was embarrassing to watch, especially that dumb as dirt penalty he took for cross-checking Quick. What a moron.

I'm pretty sure every player and coach chewed him out after the game...at least they better have. He'll play better next game cause he wants to make serious NHL $$$ and he wont if he craps the bed again.

Lol, I remember turning to my friend saying, "I think Galiardi just lost us the game." Why the F would you crosscheck a goalie?! Technically, LA didn't score on the PP, but did immediately after it expired, changing the dynamic.

I would scratch him in game 6--or at least regulate him to the 4th line. He has no business playing with Thornton and Burns.

I'm a big fan of Galiardi (mainly because of how he played against us in the playoffs when he was with Colorado), but he's just not an offensively gifted player. He's a quick skater, a good forechecker and a pretty effective pest, but he's not a top six forward. I don't want him scratched but I wouldn't mind seeing him demoted to the third line. His idiotic cross check on Quick probably cost the Sharks the game last night.

Question for all of you, who do we put in TJ's spot? His skillset (i.e. speed, forechecking ability) is a good fit for that top line, which everyone seems to have forgotten has been our best all series. If Todd wises up and puts Wingles back on the 2nd line while dropping Pavs to the 3C spot where he's played his best hockey all year, then we'll have a well-balanced top 9. Again Kyle freaking Clifford, who has even less offensive ability than T.J., was put on Kopitar's wing to balance L.A.'s lines and it worked pretty well. We can do the same thing.

Haha, and replace him with who? We're already stuck playing either career AHLers or defensemen at forward, now you want to add another hole? Even if you demote him, who takes his spot on the line with Jumbo?

It's not Galiardi's fault that he is forced to do Havlat's job.

He needs to go to the front of the net more..Burns has been getting to the puck first lately in the O-zone and TJ tends to waft and float..

Why? So he can crosscheck Quick again?

He got a goalie interference when he and Doughty got tangled in the crease and he crosschecked Quick. Gali can't control himself in front of the net and the refs hate him as much as they hate Quick.

He is a 3rd/4th liner playing on the first line at this point, It's not clear to me that he has the skills or drive to "produce" more than his 3rd/4th line role at this point. He's playing with Jumbo who makes players better, 1 assist in 9 playoff games so far, he does not benefit from his line mates at this point.

I consider him a project player at this point, he also needs some confidence.

He's been okay, his confidence is faltering a bit, he needs to get stronger in the off season (so does Kennedy)
