I made a comment on a video of Gryba's hit, defending it. I got top comment, and this was my email inbox shortly after:
Almost all of them are idiot Hab fans using limited logic and an abundance of cuss words to make fools out of themselves. Only replied to a couple before giving up because there were so many. Had to disable YouTube from emailing me when I get a reply... retarded replies are still flowing in
The interference call was a joke. I could understand if the refs called it on Rule 48 (the quickness of that hit makes it hard to tell if it's a Rule 48 violation after just one look).
I haven't yet seen a good replay. CBC showed the same two angles and I wasn't close enough to the television to get a good look. I thought at the time it was full body contact, rather than targeting the head. Need to review it before I definitively think it was clean.
I will say that it was an absolute suicide pass by Diaz.
Edit - Back angle makes it look like the arm was the principle point of contact.

IMO it was a clean hit & it was Eller's face hitting the ice that caused all the blood. It should not have been a 5 min major, I didn't even think it would have been a 2 minute penalty, it looked to me like it was shoulder to body. Diaz should have gotten a penalty for the stupid suicide pass & putting his own player in a vulnerable position. I think it was the result that forced the refs to call the penalty to try & keep the game in hand.
From one of the angles behind the Habs net it looked like Gryba's shoulder clipped Eller's chin, possibly due to Eller moving to dodge the hit before, but it's hard to see the angle so I can't be certain.
I don't think a penalty was ridiculous there, and I don't think a game suspension would be ridiculous either.
Garry Galley's initial description of it was absurd, though. I don't know if he's affected by the atmosphere but he had Habs coloured glasses on all game.
The penalty was a joke, and a suspension would be a disgrace. It was a clean hit. The only reason Eller was bleeding was because his face hit the ice.
Seriously, I'm not really interested in that series, playing Montreal is the worst thing that could happen to your hockey team. I'd rather go on dates with women. Like tomorrow, going to the movies drive-in instead of watching the 2nd game. I'll watch it on PVR if you guys tell me it's worth my time, lol
