Puck Daddy - Anti-Sens bias?

I've been following the Puck Daddy blog for the past few seasons, and it seems like the content is consistently biased against the Senators. Maybe it's because we're a small-market team, but I find the only time they give any coverage to the Senators is for something negative. Like the Gryba hit on Eller tonight, or Melnyk CSI thing. When Karlsson was injured by Cooke they went out of their way to defend the guy, and since his return they've barely mentioned him (in particular in the nightly recap posts, where Karlsson's return with 2 assists didn't even get an "honorable mention" IIRC.)

I enjoy the blog as a whole, but I'm getting fed up with the overly negative Senators content. Has anyone else noticed this? And does anyone have any suggestions for other hockey news sources like Puck Daddy?

None of those examples suggest bias.

The blog is just plain stupid (regardless of whether it actually has anti-Sens senstiment or not) and everyone involved should be fired immediately. At least that's my take on it...

This describes me right now. Am I biased against Ottawa?

(Granted, I didn't get to watch any of Karlsson's post-injury games before tonight).

The examples are indicative of a larger trend. They obviously haven't put out a post saying that the Sens suck or whatever, but they continually highlight negative things while downplaying positive thing. The whole Melnyk CSI stuff probably only deserved a paragraph in one of the "Puck Headlines" post, but instead got 2 (IIRC, I haven't double checked) dedicated articles on it, plus several other mentions.

I concur. Today he also posted that he hated the Team 1200 theme...such a plug. Him and his goofy headset.

No, arguing that Cooke didn't do it intentionally doesn't make you biased against the Sens. Going out of your way to defend Cooke with numerous dedicated articles, and then barely covering Karlsson's return is indicative that they either have a subtle anti-Sens bias or are just ignoring a small-market team.

So to recap:

Puck Daddy is biased against Ottawa
The CBC is biased against Ottawa
Dan O'Rourke is biased against Ottawa
The NHL is biased against Ottawa
Gary Bettman is biased against Ottawa

Anything I'm forgetting?

Thank you! I forgot about that one.

Here's a quote from the article: "The line “we’re Hab huntin’” sounds so close to “we’re head huntin’” that we assumed it was about Chris Neil."

Give me one example of one poster agreeing with all of that.

Otherwise you're just trying to stir **** up for no reason.

Bias is what you read into it.

I try to just read any article as an outsider trying to get as much new info as I can.

Who gives a **** if they like our team or not?

It's a lot like when kids do things or insult others to impress bullies and try to be cool

DGB is so awesome. Does a decent job of being unbiased when he tries. Doesn't hide the fact he bleeds blue though. I respect the hell outta that guy.

Good local boy as well. Saw a few autographed copies of his book at the Rideau Chapters last year. Always good for a laugh.

Yeah, I find the tone of puckdaddy on the whole to be fairly anti-sens, which is fine, but was eventually too much and took it off my daily reads.

DGB writes great stuff though. Fairly biting when he wants to criticize the Sens, but his unbiased stuff that tends to end up on Grantland is great.

This is exactly what I meant, I apologize if I didn't articulate my thoughts clearly enough in the first post. I was subscribed to it on my RSS reader but had to take it off as well.

Actually funny that you mentioned it. I read his 16 players to watch playoffs blog, and he stated last year was karlsson's first year in the playoffs and he was underwhelming and what not (stat watching most likely). There were some other mistakes mentioned for other teams and for some reason I haven't been able to find it since my first read. Tbh, I just think the guy is clueless on a majority of teams and he thinks he is cleverer than he really is.

Here is a great exchange between him and the brother of one of the pittsburgh commentators. Shows you how articulate the guy really is.
