The NFL has a rule that protects "vulnerable" players. Times have changed, players are bigger, stronger and faster than ever. This blindsided open ice hits like Cooke did on Savard or Richards did on David Booth have no place in the game. It was Gryba's responsibility to separate the player from the puck but it was excessive.
Maybe by hockey standards it was a "legal" hit but that means squat when hitting vulnerable players. I like good hitting games but last night Gryba was wrong. Diaz was also wrong for attempting that pass. Anyone who says otherwise has their rosé colored glasses on.
Back to the series, I think MT is losing the psychological warfare battle with the Senators coach and will become unraveled as this series goes on.
For the Habs to win it is simple, your best players have to be your best players.
Carey Price is at a crossroad as an NHL goalie. He either steps up or he will be out of Montreal because after being drafted 8 years ago with over 300 games of experience, he has to take the next step. Reminds me of Luongo, a really good goalie who no matter what, allows a bad goal at the worst time every game.
Personally I don't think Price has it in him and I will be shocked if the Habs win tonight or win this series.

The response? Subban is a turtle, thrn, uhm...Ribiero dove.

I asked if they have ever seen a dive or bad/phantom call go their way and of course never, only montreal gets that....

The main board is basically populated by 15 year old keyboard warriors. I wouldn't worry about them too much.

I somewhat agree. MT was losing the phych war battle....but walrus blaming Diaz outright pissed the boys off. Wewill see a more motivated team tonight.

Price is fragile right now, his usual mid season shakes. He needs to step up....NOW.

Go Habs Go!!!

I know. The Habs are like a voodoo doll. If they lose, fans are even more depressed. If they get injured, fans feel their pain.

At least it seems to be that way for many.

But after such a crappy winter, nothing can ruin the happiness I have from walking around in shorts and T-Shirts, working out outside and driving the car with some beats and a nice warm breeze. Nothing.
But I also feel Mtl accomplished a lot more than I expected, so anything right now is a bonus to me. Just sucks that my 2nd fav player got destroyed.

Do we trust Galchenyuk to play centre even though he really struggles defensively there? I might keep him on the wing and go:

Ryder - Plekanec - Gally
Galchenyuk - DD - Bourque
Prust - Halpern - Dumont
Moen - White - Armstrong

Pretty ugly line-up. Needs more skill.
I would go in a totally unexpected direction, like

Bourque - Plekanec - Gallagher
Pacioretty- Galchenyuk - Prust
Moen - Desharnais - Ryder
White - Dumont - Blunden (ex bulldogs 1st line)

Galchenyuk-Plekanec-Gallagher-the pretty line
Bourque-DD-Dumont-two ugly imps and a big troll
Blunden-Prust-White - ugly...with crazy hair
Moen-Halpern-Armstrong - old and ugly...but effective

No go get an ugly win!

I believe in Carey Price. Everyone on talk radio, fans calling in, my brother, has given up on the guy. I think he deserves one last chance to prove himself. Pretty obvious if there's a repeat tonight, Budaj on Monday.

No Eller, Pacioretty or Gionta? Ugh, this could be bad.

So two games for Gryba, huh? I'm upset at the outcome, the fact that a bottom pairing (at most) defenceman took out one of our best players. I honestly don't find it to be a suspendable hit, so I have to say I'm shocked. It is a completely unnecessary hit, one that a simple poke check or trying to tie Eller up would have probably resulted in the puck staying in the Habs end and no suspension for Gryba.

The main board is absolutely hilarious though. I see everyone over there brought their tinfoil hats today.

Rooting for you guys! Hoping for a big W and a statement game from MTL! Loved Prust's comment, "I hope he doesn't even get suspended!"

Go Habs!

I actually like our lineup. I think this team has been struggling to decide which are the scoring lines and which are the checking. It could be blessing to have things more evenly divided. Three and Four go out there and hit and neutralize. Galchenyuk will get more ice time and he's freaking awesome.

Pacioretty is out too.

And they should scratch desharnais despite the injuries. Anyone would be better right now. And I'm not a desharnais basher. but **** he was brutal last night.

Agree but if Chucky still gets 8-10 mins with 3 of our top 9 out, then I'm giving up on MT.

Unfortunately, he's at the WCs. I guess if we're eliminated by the Sens (I haven't given up yet) we can expect Subban to play for Canada. He declined last year. It would be an Olympic pre-trial for him.

I hope Gallagher gets the call for Canada too.
