As I said in the other thread, I knew he was going to be suspended.

- The hit resulted in serious injury.
- The league wants to crack down on dangerous hits.
- He's not a star player.

It's ********. Utter ********. The NHL is a mickey-mouse league.

Lmao, okay. Even if it's not an elbow it's a clear blindside hit to the head. And it's definitely an elbow.

Edit: Talking about JuicyJ's defence of the Ference hit which I couldn't quote for some reason.

He's splitting hairs. He led with his shoulder but clearly aimed for the head. Trolls gonna troll.

Still waiting to have Shannahan one day tear off his face and reveal it's really Campbell making this dumb moves. It's like nothing's changed.

And even though there isn't a rule against it, we know have the precedent of "no open ice hits allowed". Arbitrary officiating and more and more moving towards basketball level psychically. Well done Bettman.

I still see it as the upper part of the elbow, but it's whatever. I'd bet dollars to donuts that the first thing to hit Grabovsky other than Ference's jersey was an elbow pad.

Another bad call by Shanny. You know that if it was the Rangers in Ottawa's position there wouldn't be a suspension.

2 games? C'mon man. Hopefully Ottawa kills Montreal tonight. I hate their fans; anytime a Montreal player falls down their fans scream for a penalty.

Clearly.

I dont blame the ref at the ice to take the call even if it's the wrong one, it could have looked bad live. But when the NHL have videos to help them there is no excuse to make a decision like this.

LOL, Montreal fans are the only one in the hockey world (minus shanny) who think it was a dirty hit!

I guess it's true what they say.... The french are indeed backwards.

2 game suspension for something that shouldn't even been a penalty? OK Shanahan, you're doing a great job. You're just lucky it was Gryba and not Cowen or something or then this would get serious. Just because there's Blood and Grybes didn't even cause it Shanahan jumped right to a suspension?

Pretty hilarious if you watch the "hard vs legal" hits video on shanny's own page. There's a ton of legal hits that are just as bad if not worse that involve hits that have some head contact. Shanny is a ****ing tool.

Gary Bettman was in attendance. My guess is the NHL knew that Eller's blood would be all over the sports highlights and felt they needed to act.

This has to be a political decision, because consensus amongst hockey writers and analysts was that this was a clean hit. You RARELY see consensus like this....

This is 100% reactionnary, it has nothing to do with the hit

The video explanation will be hilarious

LOL @ this suspension.

Ok so...

Dustin Brown knees a player and elbows him, misses and nothing.
Ference puts his upper arm into Grabovski's head, no injury so only one game.
Subban lines up Neil along the boards, hits upper body, no fall or injury so nothing.

Two games? This is punishing the injury. This is a textbook open ice hit, Eller got caught in the train tracks by a bigger player that used his upper body to execute a defensive play. The only reason he is suspended is because he's Eric Gryba and not say...Drew Doughty or whomever. Just insane, can't wait to see the reasoning.
Oh and Gryba's a first-time offender, and he got two?

Dress Kassian, lets double down on the big open ice hits and give Shanny some more work to do.
