Not if Ottawa keeps standing still. Montreal is in constant motion when on the powerplay.

Really, we need faster, skilled players for our overall offense to be better.

This was the big key for me going into the series and it may have cost us Game #2.

I am quite sure it's a big reason why Karlsson is back playing.

If we consistently fail to convert on our special teams opportunities, it's over.

It was rediculous last night. It's like none of them have any hockey IQ on the PP except Karlsson and a few others. They all just stand still. I could score more goals on the PP then a bunch of these scrubs.

Karlsson, Gonchar, Cowen, Benoit, Alfredsson, Silfverberg, Latendresse, Zibanejad, Michalek

and we can't get a functional looking pp going at any point?

That's a killer and it's not the players

The D look horrible on the PP but the forwards aren't supporting them. They don't MOVE.

Agreed. There is something wrong. Maclean himself said awhile back it was static and predictable. They seem to have no confidence in the PP themselves and as soon as it starts they turn into the Keystone Kops.

Mcaclean thought it started to improve in the last game and there were glimmers of hope in that game though they didn't translate into goals.

I absolutely hate when the Sens get a PP because it's a waste of 2 minutes. I can't believe all the players go brain dead at the same time. What a mess.

There's no puck movement whatsover. Guys are trying to be too cute and forcing passes. Too often the club couldn't even get into the offensive zone, as there was no speed entering the neutral zone and the puck carrier trying to beat 3 guys. Dump it in! Also, get traffic in front of Price.

Now, the team's last PP was its best, thanks to better puck movement and having one guy occupy Price and a defenceman in front of the net. They also generated a lot more speed in the neutral zone to gain entry into the offensive zone. The other big difference - urgency. The team played hard on the last PP. In the other three, they seemed disinterested.

Have Turris on that Stamkos one timer spot, have Alfie at the point.

Latendresse - Turris - Michalek
Alfie - Karlsson

Neil - Zibanejad - Silfverberg
Gonchar - Karlsson/Cowen

I doubt the coaches are telling the players to coast in to retrieve dump-ins, and to stand still when we have possession.

Players without the puck need to get their feet moving.

We really need to call up Stone or Noesen. Someone to change up our powerplay.

Too much reliance is being placed on Karlsson. Our better opportunities occurred with Cowen on the back end.

OH Spez where are thou?

If Wiercioch doesn't dress next game, I'll seriously question the coaching staff's intelligence.

Karlsson, Gonchar, Wiercioch, Benoit and Phillips played ''regularly'' on the PP (ie more than 1:30 min a game).

On the PP in 2012-13

Karlsson: 2.44 points/60 min; 1.63 goals/60 min; 4.07 GF/60 min; 7.69 On-ice Shoot%; 29.7 Rel Corsi
Gonchar: 3.76 points/60 min; 0.38 goals/60 min; 4.52 GF/60 min; 8.45 On-ice Shoot%; 13.8 Rel Corsi
Wiercioch: 6.26 points/60 min; 1.88 goals/60 min; 8.76 GF/60 min; 15.38 On-ice Shoot%; 21.5 Rel Corsi
Benoit: 2.27 points/60 min; 1.13 goals/60 min; 6.80 GF/60 min; 11.76 On-ice Shoot%; -10.2 Rel Corsi
Phillips: 0.83 points/60 min; 0.83 goals/60 min; 4.98 GF/60 min; 9.38 On-ice Shoot%; -22.2 RelCorsi

*Bolded = 1st on team, Underline = 2nd on team

Wiercioch is THE best PP player on the team. I could include the forwards and Wiercioch would still come out on top.

****ing morons. Play him.

replace Gonchar with Wiercioch. Gonchar looks scared of shooting.... even Karlsson wont take a slapper.

Whats not going to happen?

A prospect being called up? (happened last year)

Spezza coming back? He could if he felt up to the task.

Lol wut? He was inches away from scoring. Price robbed him.

Bottom line is we have some worthless players on this team. Ask yourself. What has Zach Smith done lately? What does Colin Greening done lately? What has Milan Michalek done lately? Love these guys but honestly there needs to be a change going forward with the personnel being played. Notably Zach Smith.

Gonchar flobbed on the shot and that was his only good chance in the series.

Some guys just should not see any PP time: Greening, Neil, and yes Gonchar (unless it's a 4 on 3 and his geriatric brain has time to make a decision).

Need guys with one-timers. Alfie, Zibby. Silf needs to move more so he can find room for his shot. Need a guy who can win face-offs (don't have a good solution for that, and don't want Z. Smith). Lats and Michalek should be the guys in front of the net. If they're too chicken to do it, go with Conacher.

Definitely should play Wiercioch. Also needs more Cowen.

PP1:

Conacher/Lats-Zibby-Silf
Cowen-Karlsson

PP2:

Michalek-Pageau?-Alfie
Wiercioch-Karlsson

(Karlsson should keep his energy for the PP, and he should take fewer ES shifts in these playoffs)

Probably time for Murray to give Dave Cameron an ultimatum; do something with our PP or start printing up resumes.

I'd have no Michalek, he sucks. Turris over Silf because Silf doesn't move, ever.

Latendresse (net) - Turris - Alfredsson
Karlsson - Wiercioch

Conacher (net) - Pageau - Zibanejad
Gonchar - Cowen

Run the same umbrella setup for both. Zib and Alfie in the Stamkos sweetspot. Gonchar and Karlsson high mid-blueline.
