To be honest, I was fiddling with the lines earlier, but I don't really mind this setup...

Daniel-Henrik-Kass
Higgins-Roy-Kesler
Burrows-Lapierre-Hansen
Weise-Schroeder-Raymond

Balanced throughout, with the 3rd line able to be a shutdown line.

Or you could push Roy down...

Daniel-Henrik-Kass
Burrows-Kesler-Hansen
Higgins-Roy-Raymond
Weise-Lapierre-Sestito?Ebbett?Pinner?

No. We need to win games 3 and 4 to get back into the series, and the only way I think we walk out winning either game is if we win 1-0.
You must have very sore hands....

Constant 'patting yourself on the back' can have that effect.

How do you get that? I think it's a mixture of coaching and players.

You're just rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic

The Sedin's are the xFactor
They make an average team excellent

If they don't bother showing up this series then the Nucks are sunk

This. I hope the Canucks win their next 16 straight, but failing that I want demonstrated change and an exciting team to watch.
I don't "hope they lose! What a bunch of ****in losers! Trade everyone they all suck! Lolz!"
I'm just trying to temper 43 years of optimism with the reality of their chances.

Just win.

I'm not ashamed to say as a grown-ass man I was tearing up from the stands last night. That was beautiful.

No advanced stats to prove it but I think this team plays much different in front of Schneider.

If Cory starts I think we win 4 of the next 5.

Exactly. Usually when I would defend Luongo my point was to steer the attention to what the actual problem was which was scoring. It's been ignored so long because so much time was wasted talking about goaltending.

I really like this line-up.

My first choice would be to split the twins up, but this is a nice second.

Surely if they played "much different", that would manifest itself in some form (more GF, better shot differential, more chances generated etc.) but I've seen no evidence of that, nor have I noticed a difference by watching.

I think you're really underselling Schneider and how much he hides the team's warts. Poor defensive play is less memorable when the goalie manages to bail everyone else out.

Nature of the beast. I know for one that me and y2k have defended our goaltending since after the Finals almost to a fault. Seems like the majority of Vancouverites find it easier to blame one guy than 18. I think the biggest problem with the Sedins is that they play a lot on the other teams' mistakes. Hard to do that in the playoffs when they aren't making mistakes.

I'd switch Higgins and Burrows and I like it.

Reading these forums makes me believe I must be in the minority who didn't think game two was garbage and means we need a complete overhaul. That was a close game where the bounces and the calls went the other way. If we play at that exact level for the rest of this series we have a very decent shot at winning it still.

It's crazy to have expected this series to be a pushover or a gimme.

Although I will say that I think the scoring issues we have are at least as much the fault of the coaching personnel as they are the players. For our power play to fall off the cliff it did is entirely on the coaches.

Do we even have an answer yet for why Garrison isn't on the first unit power play? That is exactly the player you want, especially at the beginning of series, launching bombs from the point. If the other team wants to block the shots and break their feet, let them. If they want to get out of the way and let it tear through the back the net, let them.

He's looked like gold every time he's been on the pp the last half of this season.

I liked our 2nd and 3rd periods, it's just really frustrating when we get big performances from guys like Luongo and Kesler and no one else is finishing their chances.

Even the Leafs stepped up and tied their series in a tough building. Something is wrong with our team.

Let's face the facts. That statement is correct so far this year and last. But there have been some games that Luongo has blown. There most certainly have been goaltending problems in the past. When you get blown up for 6, 7, 8 goals it sends a message and it tells the opposition that they are shooting on a sieve. They can then loosen up and become more effective. It's the opposite effect to when a goalie is stopping everything, makes the players grip their sticks tighter and be even less effective because they have it in their minds that they cannot score (see Canucks vs. Thomas).

The reality is, you will never give praise to the Sedins when they deserve it (there have been many times, both regular season and playoffs), and you will never criticize Luongo when he deserves it - you'll always blame the defence or something else.

I have my biases, but I'm honest enough to state that the Sedins have been subpar this series and Luongo has been excellent in at least keeping the team in the game to the end. [mod]
