Hall. But Hall is highly overrated by Edmonton fans on these boards.
We compared Hall to our own player (Eberle) and said he would be better. Non-Oiler fans couldn't somehow process that a player that finished lower on the points standings could be better than another one, so they thought Eberle was better (as demonstrated by numerous polls on this site).
Hall is correctly rated by Oiler fans. He didn't magically break out this year - he's been trending that way all along.
I second this. Hall hasnt proven anything yet. Yes he had a productive year, but until he can change a game and lead his team its not really close.
I take the player that is built for the post season
This is the second thread where you've used this foolish line. If you don't think Hall takes over games and leads the team, you obviously aren't watching. Hall should be compared to guys like Tavares and Toews, not Ladd.
Ladd has been to the post season 3 times and scored a whopping 6 points
either way, Hall all day everyday...the stats prove he's a gamer
One of the cups he won was on Carolina, when he was a virually irrelevant player on the team, the other being Chicago when he was a complimentary player. It's a pretty bad argument to say Ladd is so kind of playoff hero.
Ladd is finally getting the respect he deserves, and had a great year. Wasn't luck either, you can tell he really worked hard on a few things especially his shot. If you want to talk about leadership, Ladd wins this by a mile. You can point to the Jets not making the playoffs, but I can point to the Oilers finishing 30th, 29th, and 24th since Hall arrived.
That being said, it would be unwise to take Ladd over Hall. Hall is just on another level compared to Ladd, and produced above PPG at 21, Ladd has yet to do this although he came close this year. At 21 Ladd was producing about 0.3 PPG. But you also have to consider Ladd was constantly buried on stacked teams.
Hall by a mile, not including the benefit of contract status a young player brings.
