That's how I see them too, and it's why I wouldn't consider them a lock for anything in the new division. San Jose or Vancouver (or perhaps one of the other teams) could easily finish ahead of Anaheim next season.

LA is the only playoff lock in the new division IMO, and even then their regular seasons have tended to be underwhelming.

One thing is becoming clear as the cap era matures the reg season is a better measuring stick. So many good teams just bomb in the first round, Boston/Van were a bounce away from being punted in their cup run year, imagine those team records with a first round loss that year. Or if Chicago's without that cup year, a cup was followed by 3 early exists. Or other teams making deep runs (TB, Florida, Devils) then lottery teams the next year.

One of these days I'm going to make.a table if results.

Playoff hockey is a little different, so I'll wait and see before judgement.

I think you're bang on here.

Surprised how many people are anointing Vokoun as the savior. Outside of his start the other night, his last playoff start was 06-07. That's a long time between the grind of playoff hockey.

Plus I've never been too impressed with Vokoun as a starting goalie. How will he hold up in a 7 game series against a goalie like Craig Anderson? I think it's likely that Vokoun is significantly outplayed.

Pens don't need for Vokoun to win the Conn Smyth to win the Cup.

They do need Fleury not to play so bad as to throw away that chance.

especially when anderson beat him in the direct combat goalie battle that happens at the end of every playoff game

Grabner has been very physical and effective on the forecheck for the Islanders. Sigh, Raymond.

if Pens lose in the first round is that worse than what happened in Van? I guess you don't have to blow it up cause they've won a cup and been to the scf a few times, but man pretty disappointing to lose to a team many thought they would stream roll

I have to admit; despite limited minutes, he can score goals when he's a streak.

Grabner does what the entire Canucks roster cannot do... score into an empty net.

Grabner is a stud, plays like 13 minuets a night and still produces.

It would be their third consecutive first round exit if they lose to the Isles, if that doesn't scream failure then I don't know what does

Last one on the Canucks who was good at that was Demitra.
