If no one offers anything substantial for Luongo then i wonder if MG would consider moving Schneider. I'm pretty sure he'd have good trade value to a team like NYI or NJD. Even if NYI/NJD dont have pieces that the Canucks want maybe they could flip them for someone they do want.

Okposo, Nino, 1st (2013) - Schneider, then flip this return for a player like Boekder? or B. Ryan?

then move Edler + Tanev + Schroeder for B & L Schenn

Sedin Sedin Kassian
Jensen Kesler B. Ryan
Higgins Schenn Hansen *all 3 guys here have grit and speed

Hamhuis Schenn *shut down
Garrison Bieksa *above avg second pairing
UFA Corrado *PMD ufa like Streit?

I'm sure management has asked him and I honestly have no idea what he said...

I'm still hoping for a Schneider vs. Luongo gold medal game in Sochi.

He already put his condo up for sale...

I think Luongo can get moved in the offseason. It might not be for much (or it might be good value) but he's moveable.

The Pens regardless of how far they go in the playoffs doesn't trust Fleury and they will not move forward long term with Vokoun as a starter. They have a great core (of course) and could use a long term, stable fix in goal. Luongo would bring that.

The Isles have positioned themselves to finally go out and get a game changer and they need a game changing goaltender. They may also want to stabilize that position long term as they gear up to go to Brooklyn. I don't believe they have any goaltenders in the system that project to be starters (or even NHLers).

The Flyers can not possibly be satisfied with the current state of their goaltending. The Jets also shouldn't be. In the final analysis how much confidence do the Leafs have in 4eimer who is either good or really not good in a game.

Anyways, unlike deadline day the goaltender market should improve...does it improve enough is the question.

I still think that you have two scenarios...one likely and one not so likely but fun to think about.

1) the move Luongo for anything and bring in an experienced backup

2) move Luongo AND Schneider while bringing in someone like Smith or Elliot. Would a bold move but unlikely.

The third scenario of trading Schneider and giving Luongo the #1 I just don't think happens.

Lol. Can you believe he said that? How can Philly ever justify bringing this guy back.

They won't justify it. The guy has been crucified in Philly ever since he got there. He's the perfect whipping boy for the media. but also slightly serious.

Luongo for Bryz and something trade?

Would guarantee a buyout by Van

Think Aquilini is interested in spending $34+M on a buyout? I'm not sure....be nice if he were interested in spending that kind cash.

Nino Neideraitor wanted off the Island earlier this year.

Luongo to NYI for Neideraitor makes too much sense...

Luongo for Neideraitor and Nielsen (Nielsen and Hansen on the third line together would be magic )
But please dont pencil in Neideraitor into the Canucks line up for next year..the guy has 1 point in 55 NHL games played. He wasnt even the best player on his team in the NHL last year....guy has potential..but so far he isnt living up to his high draft ranking.

Because they can't get rid of him without a buyout. They will give him one more year as Mason's backup (yes I said that, did you mind just explode trying to get your head around it too?) then buy him out.

Besides were would you rather live

Imagine the pressure on Luongo if Schneider gets traded. My new idea: move both of them and start fresh.

They'd have to take Booth or Ballard... or both as well.

Lu, Booth, Ballard for Couturier/Laughton, Bryz

Have the Flyers used an amnesty buyout?

I think the Canucks can trade Booth and Ballard but if they are looking at having to buy one or both out, this might not be that bad for them.

A couple interesting quotes from Carlyle today:

@mirtle
Carlyle on goalie Qs: "If you had the chance to get the best goaltender in the world what would you do? So don’t put words in my mouth okay"

‏@mirtle
Carlyle: "If you can feel there’s a player out there that’s going to help our hockey club then we’re going to try to pursue that player."

A Luongo to Toronto deal is still a long shot IMO but these quotes are interesting none the less.

I'm curious to know if Gillis will even deal with Nonis after what happened at deadline.

I'm thinking the Isles are going to be next year's Panthers. They'll stand pat. They'll likely regret it, but Wang won't care. No way they deal for Lu what with DP's contract on the books.

On the other hand here was a world class goaltender available for reasonable price to many many teams in the league that had goaltending questions. Those teams have now missed the playoffs, got bounced in the first round thanks to a penchant for giving up 4 or more goals, or have benched their starter in favour of a 37 year old backup.

Pretty sure those are also circuses GMs just let develop.

Except our goalie carousel helped us make the playoffs (Luongo played well at the start of the year, when Schneider wasn't) and gave us the best chance to win in the playoffs (when Schneider wasn't good to go).

I find it very hard to complain about the way we handled our goalies this season. It would have been nice to do better in the post-season but our goalies were the least of our concerns.

Definately Kipper.

Feaster told Nonis that Kipper is still the best goalie in the world as that franchsie still thinks its 2004.

They could but they dont' have a Markstrom in the pipeline. They also are a team on the rise while Florida was a patchwork team that was lucky to make the playoffs and were still basically a rebuilding team. The Snow/Wang combo is a bit of a wildcard.

I wouldn't count them out at all. Ya they have Dipietro but Luongo would be a great addition on and off the ice for them, specially with their eventual move to Brooklyn.
