After 40 years there was a camera at center ice in Uniondale

It was shocking on Tuesday night to see the lead camera being on the red line at the Coliseum.

I am guessing that NBC and TSN ( together with Root Pittsburgh and MSG ) must have figured out a way to place a robotic camera behind the press level and all 4 networks used it.

It made for a far better telecast.

Not sure I agree.

It took me the entire first period for my eyes to adjust. I was actually getting a bit dizzy.

Just not used to the downward facing angle.

I'm not a big fan of change and never had too much of a problem w/the old camera position -- except for the occasional cotton candy vendor who would block some of the play.

Either way, the picture threw me off.

I tend to agree with cjdv16, it took a bit of adjusting, I think I could get used to it after a few games though.

Noticed it right away. Didn't like it.

But like anything else-- we got used to it. I'd like to use the old camera angles to watch fleury eff up!!

Took me a few mins to get used to it. Once the game got revved up, I forgot about it.

Yup. It was so jarring at first I thought there was something wrong with me.

I did notice I felt "out of it" for most of the game. Like I was somewhat drunk (but I wasn't). Maybe this was the reason...

The same camera was used for the 2001-02 season.

Ya, it definitely looked weird at first. I didn't realize it was more central until now, at first I just thought it was just further away (although that obviously doesn't make any sense).

Hated it at first, could tolerate it later - but glad the Isles won, otherwise I'd have hated everything and everyone.

I didn't like the camera angle at first and it took time to adjust to it, but I kind of liked it. You get a better look at more of the ice and can see plays develop a little bit more. I could get used to it.

I thought it was too high since I'm used to the other format.

Didn't like that, still not crazy about it. They players look like ants from that steep angle

Maybe I'm losing my mind because I didn't even notice until I saw this thread and went back and looked.

But now that I'm seeing it, I'm not sure how I DIDN'T notice it while watching the game.

Game Three First time out the NHL went up to the game camera position and yelled at them that they were showing too many seats. It was the NHL that mandated the change. Reason why it was so high is because it was in the press box on the red line. Not an easy angle to shoot from that is for sure.
