Crosby playing for Toronto!?

Relax Leafs fans, it's not that Toronto, rather the Toronto Marlies, the new AHL franchise next year. TSN is reporting that the Toronto Star has said that the Maple Leafs have approached Crosby to play with the upstart Marlies next season.

Have to agree with you on that. I can't but look at how beneficial this will be for the nhl. He goes to the ahl where a majority of games are played in the states and do what he did for the q.

I could see it happen perhaps, I'd love to see it happen, as I might for go the new computer and go for Marlies season tickets instead then.

But will it?

I mean wouldn't Montreal love to have Crosby on Hamilton? wouldn't Philly love him in a Phantoms jersey? etc. etc.

What if crosby stays in the Q?

What if he gets more to play in Europe?

What if there's a deal soon and he's drafted and is in an NHL Camp next fall?

too many what if's.

Would you play in Europe when you could make the same amount in North America?

I hope he doesn't ever play a game for the Marlies or the Leafs. Crosby sucks.

I hope your right.

But I like to think of myself as a Hockeyfanboy regarding Crosby in a Marlies sweater, if he played for the Marlies then I'd get to see him play, it doesn't make him Leaf property.

Depends. If by Europe you mean Kazakhstan, then sure Id stay in NA. If by Europe you meant, Say, Sweden playing next to Peter Forsberg I dont think theres much to think about.

Isn't there a rule prohibiting CHL players playing in the OHL until they are 19 or something? Or is that the OHL only?

technically CHL players have to be 20 before playing in the AHL.

but since Crosby will be undrafted if the lockout continues then it will be much easier to get around that rule.

Either if your 20 or you've played 4 seasons in the CHL.

No, if he plays in the AHL next year it will be with the Sound Tigers!

Seriously, I would be stunned if there is no NHL next season. They can't afford to lose another year. And even if there is no season, I doubt that he would play in an NHL feeder league without any NHL affiliation. It just doesn't make much sense for him.

he wouldnt be the first player to play in the AHL w/o an NHL affiliation just the most recognizable

Classic Toronto media!! Do you not think that at least 10, if not ALL the AHL teams have made him the same offer? I bet Crosby has 40 offers on his desk right now for places to play if there is no NHL, but of course the Toronto media reports only 1 of those. Gotta love it!!!

As far as I know the Leafs were the only team to explicitly state their interest. Can't report other team's plans if they don't come out and say something.

Don't those other 20 or so cities have their own media? Why is it the Toronto media's responsibility to report the daily happenings of other AHL franchises? I don't expect the Portland or Houston newspapers to report on Toronto's doings, and vice-versa. It get's real old to see people just taking mindless pot shots any way they can. Hell, this isn't even the Leafs, it's the city itself...
