yeah, that one amazed me. though conroy was still a project. turgeon straight up would have been nearly as amazing.

Thanks for that memory, it's really cheered me up before bed

However Baron + Thibault did get Weinrich + Hackett, Houle's best trade IMO (not that the competition is fierce)

Alexei Kovalev
20-25 million in cash

for Lindros

I'm not certain if this was the actual deal or not. My searching brought this up as the rumoured offer from New York. THere probably were draft picks thrown in there as well, but I'm not certain.

If it was the offer, it's pretty scary to think that maybe the Nordiques were pretty safe with either offer given to them.
Wieght was in there as well + two 1st rounders.
And QUE didn´t choose to take PHI´s offer, QUE actually tried to make both trades legal, getting the loads from both NYR and PHI, rather it was some kind of interference from the league that ruled in, ehem, "favor" of PHI.

Worst trade that never happened during my time as an NHL fan is hands down:

To OTT:
The rights to Peter Forsberg, Hextall or Fiset + a 1st rounder in 1993 - that was picks 10 and 23 at that time (10th brought Thibeault, 23rd Bertuzzi),

To QUE:
The 1st overall selection in the 1993 Entry Draft, a pick they said outright they would use to select Alexandre Daigle.

Thank God that never happened.

Another one came to mind; before Forsberg came to the NHL there was word on that PIT would trade Jagr for Forsberg right up. At this time Forsberg was considered the best player outside of the NHL and Jagr was still a 30-goal kid, who played with Mario back in those dying last days of the highscoring NHL.
The trade would - at that time - had made sense for both teams; Forsbergs old linemate Näslund was struggeling in PIT and Quebec was loaded at center with Sakic, Sundin and Ricci.

I think Bob was innocent that time around, think he was in Florida trying to wreck the Panthers.

Instead Quebec traded Sundin, along with Garth Butcher, Todd Warriner and a first round pick to Toronto for Wendel Clark, Sylvain Lefebvre, Landon Wilson and a first round pick...
