The best goaltender in the league is getting paid like the best goaltender in the league.

Flat out stole one tonight.

Nice. Wanted to ask first, of course. Looks like Ali took the first Rangers matchup on 11/19, but I think I can work it into there somehow....again provided things don't blow up in our faces.

Real talk.....Hank isn't as bad as his numbers indicate and I think most of us know that. I think he's a big time victim of a system and it's personnel that are in total limbo. But that's not what this debate is really about.

We've got a young defense that has at times struggled as they acclimate to regular shifts in NHL games (and some of the older vets who struggle along with them as part of that transition) and that considered, Rask's numbers are simply mind-blowing. Long season yet, long way to go in that contract....but Tuukka so far is rock ****ing solid, and he damn sure won this game for them tonight.

I love to see Hank fail. He seems like a great guy, I'm sure he is, but I am just so tired of hearing how he was so great. Then once you remove Tortorella and shrink those pads he looks like **** out there

As a Bruins fan in NY with a lot of Rangers fan friends, it feels great

I don't think he is underrated... most think he is top 5/top 3 goalie.

I say top 3 (Rask/Quick/Lundqvist) and those are interchangable pending on the day.

How was Rask not one of the top 3 stars on NHL tonight?

He has been nothing short of spectacular so far. I know it's unrealistic to think he will keep this up, but I honestly see him posting numbers in the .940 S% and in the 1.8 GAA. He is that good and so is his team.

Must admit, I was a little leary of the years given to him in his contract, but even if he isn't any good in his last couple years he will still be worth it and then some. In 3 or 4 years when the cap is high again he will be a major bargain.

He is a top 3 goaile in the league for sure and bravo for Chia & Co for recognizing this and locking him up for the years that we have the potential to win the Cup.

Of course he is. Being a top 3 goalie automatically makes you a top 10 goalie.

I'm joking of course. I'm not sure that there's another goalie I'd rather have right now.

Did Rask already prove he was better than Hank in the playoffs last year? I mean, Lundquist was pretty bad on a lot of those playoff goals.

I was wondering how long it was going to take before people jumped on me for being a jerk.

If there IS a goaltender in the world who is better than Rask right now, I think you're REALLY splitting hairs. He's ****in' unreal.

I didn't think you were being a jerk, I figured you were joking around, but I can't honestly think of a goalie I'd rather have right now, unless I can go back in time.

You had me going haha. I was thinking, how can he actually think there are 10 better goalies out there.

Rask for the Hart, Vezina, and Conn Smythe!

But in all seriousness, I think if Tuukka keeps his play up, he could do an award sweep. So far he has thrived under almost all conditions (smaller pads, defensive breakdowns by teammates, etc) and he has already stood on his head for the team. I'm probably pumping his tires a bit, but he's been everything that the B's want.

Is anyone concerned with Tuukka's potential workload this season?

- The schedule is condensed because of the Olympics
- A good chance Rask is the starter for Finland
- Julien looks like he may play Rask 70+ games this season
- Rask has never played more than 55 or so games in his career

Should Julien be playing Johnson more? Or if Julien has no confidence in Johnson, should Svedberg be the backup?

Not at all. I think he is up to the task physically and emotionally. His style is so economical,I think he could actually play doubleheaders and be fine.Getting through the eastern conference in this year's playoffs won't be easy but with Rask on his game, I think the Bruins will get to the finals.I fully expect to see Chicago in the finals again.

I think Tuukka will be ok...obviously with that big contract being signed it is expected of him to handle a heavy workload, but it seems like he might possibly pull a "Brodeur" this year, playing 70+ games. Nice thing about the Olympics though is that even if Rask is the starter for Team Finland, he and whoever else they choose could split the games 50/50, but then again who knows. My only worry for Tuukka this season is him getting injured.

Maybe....mayyyyyyyyybe Niemi.

That's a tossup.

What the hell is in the water in Finland? I picture some sort of secret, pre-Cold War type of Goalie factory where they train goalies a-la Ivan Drago in Rocky IV.
