Dale Arnold on the radio just declared Tuuka the best goalie in the NHL.

what becomes to Finland olympic team, usually we switch between goalies in group stage and whoever performs the best gets the starting job later on. so goalies won't be out of the steam so you don't have to worry about Tuukka being tired

Let's appreciate him some more. After a bit weaker match against Ottawa, another game stolen by him against Lundqvist & Co.

I think it's safe to say we don't win without Rask today so it was the right decision to play him, but oh boy ... he is going to be exhausted at some point this season, especially if you consider the Olympics.

I'm worried that he will go down from injury at some point this season. If my math is correct, Rask has the potential to play 90+ games this season (if you count regular season, olympics, and for the sake of discussion, playoff games). It will be miraculous if he manages to stay healthy for everything. It's why the selfish part of me would rather not see him start in the Olympics, even though I have Finland as my dark horse to win the gold.

He's been extraordinary so far. But the season is long, and the playoffs even longer. But fantastic start to his new contract.

Must be kinda weird for other Bruins players like Chara playing against/shooting on Tuukka.

If you were Big Z wouldn't you cringe when blasting one from the point on Rask?

anyone else getting concerned about Rask? He has not been sharp for more than a few games now, and he just gave up 4 goals on 20 shots in his first Olympics start.

Yes and not because of the game today. He's been off for a while now.

yup. I almost wonder if there's a nagging injury that he's not saying anything about, seems to be fighting the pipes a bit - holding himself back and there's a bit of a lack of confidence there.

Hope its not the "$7 million goalie curse". Never was a fan of huge contracts like that for goalies. Only goalie that I would give that to was Broduer, and even he didn't want that when he negotiated his last deal without an agent for $5 million/season.

That's my line of thinking as well. He doesn't look comfortable at all, so I suspect he's nursing an injury.

Hope Lehtonen takes the job and runs with it. The Olympics couldn't be going better so far if you want the Bruins playing as little as possible over there.

In terms of Rask, didn't see their game, and frankly don't care all that much about Olympic performances.

In the first 7 games after and including them foolishly starting him on the 2nd night of a back to back his save % was 87.6%. They gave him 4 nights off after the Toronto game, and in the 6 games since it's been 92.8%

dont know his stats since the game, but Rask has just seemed off/on since the 6-1 loss to Det.
He was lights out before that game.

He had a .943 between the DET game and when they played him on back to back nights.

I know I'm blasting Rask in the other thread, but I genuinely want to see him succeed. A big part of me has come into this tourney hoping he would get hot and carry Finland to a medal.

I see a lot of people saying it's better if he sits for good after this, but I really don't buy the rest excuse with Tuukka. I think he needs a confidence boost more than he needs rest, so I hope he plays again and plays well.

If he gets relegated to backup status after one crappy game, I don't see that helping him find his game when he comes home to us.
