We've completely hijacked the thread. I guess we should congratulate the Austrian team on their success. They are improving. On the positive note, a flag similar to the Latvian will replace it in the elite division.

Latvia can still make it.....if you take points from France and Germany. Remember you just need more points than Denmark and Slovenia. 3 points could end up being enough.

Let's hope Latvia can get it's game together - you think playing together would at least beat Austria

I don't think they are improving. 9 out of 10 times they lose this game, today was just the odd day they won it. I wouldn't call that improvement, they will be back in division 1 in 2015 (or maybe 2014?).

Do not underestimate Austria. They have Vanek and team spirit. And the team has positively progressed.

Vanek definitely, team spirit probably, but progressed? Nope. No way they are going to survive in the top division with that defence.

I am very surprised we won this one. Bad for Latvia, I always kind of liked them but good for us and especially for me since I cam stick it on a Latvian teammate of mine!

I agree and everyone who watched our game against France saw that too. Still too static, too slow and predictable and still so many rookie-mistakes even junior players just can shake their heads.

Masalskis after injury, K. Redlihs after injury, Kulda - without playing practice last 2 months.
Pujacs- injury in game against USA.

Our defense- NCAA, 2 from Ukraine league, 1 from KHL, and first defensive line- in terrible form(Kulda, Rēdlihs).

Latvia played more in Austrian zone, than austrians played in Latvias zone.

I respect Austrian hockey and well deserved win.
