It's probably been posted already, but I can't be bothered to read through 28 pages...
It puzzles me why Montreal sat back in the third period. Ottawa's defense turns over the puck like crazy when they're pressured, yet the Habs didn't pressure them at all in the third until Zibanejad's goal. After that, Montreal was all over them for a few shifts.
That pisses me off more than the botched icing calls or the questionable review on Zibanejad's goal. If Montreal played like they did in the first two periods, Ottawa doesn't come back, no matter what the refs do.
I predicted the score today would be 3-2 Montreal in OT. Close, but no cigar.
In my opinion, it hit his stick first and then his foot and in regular motion, there's no way he could have intentionally do anything with the puck with his foot. But that's my opinion, and no reason to agree...
I don't bother with Zibanejad's goal. Very questionable, but OK, I can live with that decision.
But the tying goal ? How is it possible no interference by Turris is called there ? Maybe Price should have dove like Anderson on Prust... But he didn't. Instead, he's been REALLY injured on the play...
No way Price faked the injury. That is ridiculous. He played great today.....very solid......but the makeup of that D must change or evolve. I don't see Gorges, Boullion, or Markov on our eventual Stanley Cup team. Gorges and Boullion can be upgraded.....and Markov will likely be on the back 9 by the time our team is more complete. As for the forwards, we need bigger forwards.....who can crash the net and get garbage goals....just a few. I don't think we have them in our farm system unfortunately....so they may have to come via free agency or trade. Ryder will likely be out unless he has an undisclosed injury to explain how he's disappeared in the playoffs.
Surely because he didn't see it get in and thinks Price on it....but then he sees it.
I think it's more symbolic. The Refs are just freaking lost all the time and consciously make bad calls again, all the time.
I mean, the tying goal was just brutal but not just because it was kicked in, but first the faceoffs was moved to the wrong side, and as they did all series long, the linesman just wait for 5 hours to drop the puck until they chase somebody which happened to DD on that play.
And in the last couple minutes down to the tying goal, the linesmen called icing on plays that really had no business being stopped. It was ridiculous.
I mean, the linesmen and refs have been bad all series, and not just ours. It's been like that in many other series. But tonight was really something else. I never assumed refs were actually out trying to help a team score, never in my life, no matter how much I disagreed with the officiating, but tonight I don't see how you can think the refs were impartial. Really, I can't.
With the Leafs and Habs supporting half the NHL you would think some of the calls could go our way.
The Habs being financially successful is part of the reason why the Habs get jobbed all the time. Whereas a losing team in a less fruitful market doesn't make money might "die" and leave the city it was intended to grow in, the Habs will never have to worry about that while that other team might need a little "help". Of course, that doesn't completely explain why we get jobbed. Another part is I believe that they are "enemies" of the guys at the top, such as the Bruins.
