Andy Sutton Retires

Not sure who said it first, but it's being reported all over Twitter.

No surprise, I guess.

He really was good for us in his time here. He did get totally and utterly screwed over by the league however with the 2nd suspension he got in his last year here. One of Tambos few vet players he added that actually came as advertised.

Not shocking. Made it pretty clear during that intermission with Gene late in the year.

Yeah, tough for him, he would have had a positive impact this past season if he was healthy, imo. Good luck to him going forward with his life.

Didn't he say something about a line of hockey equipment?

Can't remember as you hear all kids of people talking about this nowadays.

I liked the guy, he came off as being very professional. He knew his role and sounded like he was a good guy in the dressing room

Damn he was supposed to be MacT's top pairing defence man acquisition this summer! Who is going to run the power play, kill penalties and face the tough competition now?!?!

One of my favourite recent oilers. I wish we had him earlier in his career. The guy is a gem.

I really liked him as an Oiler. We could definitely use someone with his toughness. Anyways best of luck!

Best of luck to him in his off ice endeavors, it was a treat to watch the big man play in his lone season here.

Liked him as well. Came exactly as advertised. A mean, big rugged defender who blocked any shot, any time. Played the game on edge and had other teams forwards paying attention. The guy also surprisingly had a really good set of hands.

A few more years of him being a heart and soul player would have propelled him into Ulanov cult hit category. He was well on his way.

Coincidentally when we lost Andy and Darcy we had a lot more trouble with getting man-handled by so many teams.

I really liked him he really liked playing here too.

No surprise. Wish him all the best going forward. He's a guy I wouldn't mind us keeping around in a non player role
