I feel like a bit of a Canucks hipster, since I wanted to fire AV before it was cool.

Now I need to find a new contrarian opinion. GIVE BALLARD 25+ MINS A NIGHT.

Thought this was a neat article in the Province today: http://blogs.theprovince.com/2013/05...ie-desjardins/

Also, anyone expecting AV to get fired today is going to be extremely disappointed.

I'll be so pissed if they hire him.

Based on a WJC? That seems incredibly silly. He has been excellent in a much larger sample size of WHL, AHL and NHL hockey.

I will be a full on bandwagoner. If we do somewhat decent, I'll at least look at the team and see if we're entertaining enough to cut three hours of my day. If we're like this year, I could care less about the record. We're beyond boring and I have better things to do. Hell, I'd rather watch Toronto, Pittsburgh, Chicago, St. Louis or San Jose. At least they're interesting.

I'll be pretty ****ing pissed. But he'd be on the absolute shortest of leashes and one 4-5 game losing streak would probably put an end to his time here.

Boucher is a much, much better fit for this team going forward.

Of course I will watch, because he will only be in Vancouver as the opponent's coach.

Canucks are my team, I will always watch. Just like I did through the Keenan years, even though I despised what he did to the team and players. And AV is a saint compared to Kennan.

AV had his chance and did well but we need a change. AV never played the kids and pretty much wasted Ballard.

With the typical slow starts to the season he (and the team) normally has? Wouldn't that be just delaying the inevitable?

What has he done in the NHL, assistant coached a bad team.

An AHL coach of the year? Didn't Gulutzan win one too...he doesn't look great.

That's a nice article you posted though. I don't watch any AHL hockey outside of random Wolves games sporadically, so I can't speak for how he coaches in the AHL.

I'm not sold on him, I'd prefer Boucher, and I'm on record as saying Tippett would be my choice.

Which is among the reasons I wouldn't bother much with the team. It's predictable to the point of insulting. Two years now we're tried doing the same thing and shocking it has produced the same results. I really hope they do not go "third time's the charm."

Well, since it's only really possible to make tweaks to this team as a GM and with all that talk of 'resetting' that Gillis went on about, to me the only way to change the team significantly is to fire the coach. Fingers crossed.

Yeah, the "Fire AV Club" was a pretty lonley place the past 5 or 6 years. I'm glad the rest of them have caught up finally.

With the declining interest in the team I can't see how they can just come back next year with more of the same. Since the roster isn't that flexible I'm expecting the coach will go.
