I agree with this. He lets up a soft goal in OT and we all forget the countless times he's bailed out the Blues and their numerous defensive lapses.

I know what you mean, you know... I still support Elliott. I didn't say anything earlier this year, but I always had hope he'd come back, even when everyone was all about how he sucked. I know he had a bad time this year, but I was hoping he'd redeem himself. I'm not ready to give up on him.

Halak is known for keeping his GD pads on the ice. That's twice in one game Elliot couldnt get his S together, 5 hole.....,....

Im done with Elliot, McDonald, Stewart, Berglund. Ive seen enough.

No. IMO you can't throw Halak in there now..maybe to start a series but not now, we have to stick out with Elliot.

Switch Berglund with Backes and Perron. I'm losing faith in this group quickly.

A lot of overreacting in here. I know I was expecting a sweep and hoping for 5 or 6 with a couple of fluke wins but the Blues have done better than that. They have outplayed the Kings and put up a hell of a fight. I truly believe if they played any other team in the NHL in the first round they would be moving on. I'm proud of the way they played against the Kings. If only they would have kept that lead in game 4 then this series would have been over tonight, IMO.

This is another building block for them and next year should be much better. A proper training camp for Tarasenko and Bouwmeester to get better acquainted with the team and even more hunger after losing such a hard fought battle.

*I know the series isn't officially over, but I don't see them winning 2 out of 2 now.

I think he meant Quick, not Halak.

In my book he has. I doubt very much you would have seen any Kings fans calling for Quick's head after game one. Hell the winner in game one was a worse one than the one tonight. Elliott gave up a bad goal, but he got fooled big time when Voynov fanned so massively. Quite frankly, Elliott has played his way into the starting job next year in my opinion.

If the Blues play like they did today, they can certainly win in L.A. They knew they should've won this game. They're fired up and pissed off. If they channel that into dirty play and loads of penalties then we're screwed. Like you said, resiliency is the key.

On related notes, Hitchcock's refusal to roll the 4th line that has been effective all series played a big part in this loss. He has been outcoached all series. He has no idea how to handle a player like Tarasenko. And much of what other teams warned us about with him has held true.

Also, Oshie has been crap this series. He has scored two goals and cost us double that. His legend is far greater than his contribution.

Perron's offensive game is dead. He looks lost in trying to score goals and make passes. I don't understand how a previously gifted player lost so much, but he has. IT isn't lack of effort, but he looks like he transformed from Demitra to Atcheynum over the last 20 games.
He's had a real disappointing year offensively, but he's played with his heart on his sleeve this whole series. He's a great captain, needs a bounce back year offensively next year though.

I kind of thought the same thing... if LA had another goalie, or any other goalie in the league was in there, we'd have had this.

I thought he was implying that too.

I'm sick of having a team with 4 lines of grinders. I hate the Hitch grinding style. Can't we have one line of talent? Just one?

Credit where it's due I haven't seen a blue score such a deliberate shot in a while.
Umm...no. Schwartz got a piece of Voynov's stick at the last second and totally altered the shot.

Bummer.

Kings just a little bit better. Nothing new.

Wait you mean the same Halák who played like **** this year and gave up weak goal after weak goal is going to so better? Elliott has outplayed the hell out of Halák this year, even with that horrific stretch. I don't know what games you've watched but Halák has always had a penchant for giving up weeks goals.

I don't think Oshie has been bad this series, there's so much more jump and fight to his game when compared to Backes. His line has had it's ups and downs, but I thought for the most part they were quite good in today's game.

Definitely agree about the 4th line not getting enough ice time. Our guys clearly looked tired out there, send out the ****ing CPR line to bring some energy back. They're well rested and can frustrate the Kings in their own zone. I've questioned many of Hitch's moves this playoffs.

Even then I don't agree. Blues have a knack for making average goalies look great. Quick hasn't actually had that great of a series, we just can't bury the puck when we need to.

And for the record, I'm totally open to a coaching change. Hitch has flat out been out coached by Darrel Freaking Sutter.

Well, yeah that is true too. It can really be frustrating, and even if Elliott is pleasing everyone, even the Elliott-haters, if the Blues aren't putting in more than a puck per game, they can't win enough to pass even one round. Very frustrating.
