Yeah. Crazy. Like it's somehow easier to believe that rich white men, who control this industry for the purpose of making money for themselves, DON'T do whatever they can to make it work to their advantage. Like, you basically ignore the western world's history of capitalism and are arguing that the purity of sport is what is happening and not, you know, business.

Frankly, I think it's more crazy, and head planted firmly in sand, to believe the men running the NHL, brass and owners, guys who lie, cheat, and steal to make their money in their other business dealings, don't do it when it comes to hockey. That part just doesn't make sense to me.
100% this post. And I'll extend it to the most glaring culprits that you missed - the people who run the dozens of sportsbooks/sports betting operations. I love how people always underestimate the motivating factor money provides to corrupt anything and everything. We've seen it in soccer. We've seen an NBA ref ousted for it (and quite frankly I truly believe he's just the tip of the iceberg). Is it really that hard for people to fathom that people in the NFL and NHL and other pro sports aren't persuaded by money? I mean, how much does a ref make? If a large enough sports betting syndicate stood to make several million dollars off of the outcome of a game, is it really that hard to believe they'd pay a ref $100,000 to influence the game to their favor?

Easy to believe if the evidence is there. Otherwise who cares.

So make a topic that's grey into something that's black and white. Evidence = guilt. Lack of evidence = no guilt. The fact that you think like that, and by extension almost 99.99% of the population does, is why these things happen. Because people would rather believe that it's not happening. I'm amazed at how many times in history people have been shown that money is a corrupter of even the greatest, most virtuous of men. Yet somehow, in 2013, people believe that cops and politicians are corrupt, but not officials in pro sports.

The problem is that the opposite is always, always, always worse. I hope you are not seriously lobbying for finding people guilty without evidence.

Also: if you honestly want to talk about corruption in the NHL, you can do that on the Business boards. You can find them here.

Let's not clutter up the "talking about the NHL playoffs" thread with "talking about mass conspiracies" nonsense, cool?
Cool.

Thought this was funny. Went to nhl.com/awards to see if it would say when the Jack Adams finalists were announced. It brought me to the 2012 Awards page.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/eventhome.htm...n=/awards/2012

In the main screen, they have a thing to quick access award winners. You can see Malkin win his Hart, Lundqvist win the Vezina, Bergeron win the Selke, etc. They even have the GM award on there. They seem to be missing one, and it's a pretty major award. Guess which one?

Yeah, no PPG against first rd, win series w/o Toews and Kane scoring. Honestly. Hard to see them and Pitt not playing in the final, really. Kings will give them all they can handle, but wouldn't be too surprised of Hawks beat em.

First of all we're getting past Pittsburgh

I'd take LA over Chicago for sure

Watching the Hawks-Det game... it seems like the there is less time to make a decision with the puck in the Western Conference right now. If the Pens come out of the East, they are absolutely going to have their hands full.

Last year the eastern conference had a much more entertaining playoffs

This year it's all about the west, it's like night and day going from watching the Senators/whoever to LA/STL or CHI/DET

Worst knee injury ive ever seen. Edler knee-on-knee hit on Eric Staal.

I guess not. I really don't pay much attention to this tournament, even when the Sens are out. All I saw was Gibson got the W in the net.

Scoreless after 1 in BOS-NYR.

Del Zotto took a puck to the face, hope he's ok.
