I would be very interested in Ben Maxwell, & Krys Kolanos as both are proven scorers @ the AHL level + they are Vets who would add leadership to a very young AHL team in Binghamton.

Ben Maxwell man is huge but he seems to have slowed down a great deal the past few seasons, so I would pass on him.....

If either Ben Maxwell, & Krys Kolanos could be signed to an AHL contract that would be a very good move. I doubt that Ottawa would sign either player to a 2 way NHL deal, because after the Jared Cowen signing Ottawa will be at 48 contracts. I think Ottawa would like to keep a few spots open for possible future transactions.......

Even more off season info concerning the City of Binghamton;

Binghamton ranks 23 out of 219 US Cities for Minor League Markets..a respectable 3rd in NYS behind #2 Rochester and #5 Syracuse

I think Decosta will get picked off waivers. His contract is cheap and he has some unproven upside on which someone will take a chance. Even though he does have to play in the NHL he can be sent down again. I believe he would have to clear waivers again.

I don't know, at the end of training camp most teams have their lineups & thier budgets pretty much set. It's also the time of year when a lot of players are placed on waivers. A team would have to think he could play on their NHL team for them to take a chance on him. Personally, I would like to see the Sens put him in a trade package to upgrade some position in Ottawa or Bingo.

Ski:

Holt scored a goal against Rochester into an open net.

Also that season he was called for one (1) minor penalty that season.

I have only seen that penalty called 1 time and that was on Holt, now for trivia.

¿¿¿ What was the penalty that Holt was called for???

It was for playing outside the trapezoid wasn't it? It was near the end of the season I think.

And it isn't so rare in NHL 13, get called for it all the damn time.

Sens#83:

I do Not know about the video game NHL 13, as I only know about hockey played on ice, not a video game!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As I said that is the only time I have seen that call made..............

Goaltender is allowed to play outside the trapezoid defending his goal would be very difficult from back there...............

Part of rule 63 states;

A goalkeeper shall not play the puck outside of the designated area behind the net (Trapezoid). Should the goalkeeper play the puck outside of the designated area behind the goal line, a minor penalty for delay of game shall be imposed. The determining factor shall be the position of the puck. The minor penalty will not be assessed when a goalkeeper plays the puck while maintaining skate contact with his goal crease.

2013-14 schedule coming Thursday

2013-14 schedule coming Thursday
August 21, 2013

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … Pending its approval by the AHL Board of Governors, the American Hockey League’s 2013-14 regular-season schedule will be released on Thursday, August 22, at 3:00 p.m. ET.

The schedule will be available for viewing and download on the official Web site of the American Hockey League, theahl.com.

In operation since 1936, the AHL continues to serve as the top development league for the players, coaches, managers, executives and broadcasters of all 30 National Hockey League teams. More than 87 percent of today’s NHL players are American Hockey League graduates, and for the 12th year in a row, more than 6 million fans attended AHL games across North America in 2012-13.

Tim Marks Appointed B-Sens Video Coach

Tim Marks Appointed B-Sens Video Coach
08/28/2013 8:16 AM

The Binghamton Senators, in conjunction with its National Hockey League affiliate the Ottawa Senators, announced the hiring of Tim Marks as the new Video Coach today for the Binghamton Senators.

Marks, who was video coach and assistant for Princeton University’s Men’s Hockey the past two seasons, will replace Matt Meacham. Meacham was recently hired by the Chicago Blackhawks organization after being with the B-Sens since the 2007-2008 season.

Marks played collegiately at Clarkson University while earning his degree in Entrepreneurship & Innovation. In 141 career games as a forward with the Golden Knights he tallied 36 points with 14 goals and 22 assists.

After college Marks was signed by the Tampa Bay Lightning’s organization in 2010, where he received a one-way contract to its American Hockey League affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals. In two seasons with the Admirals, Marks played in 59 games amassing 4 goals and 4 assists while picking up 69 penalty minutes.
Following his stint with the Admirals, Marks played two games with the Elmira Jackals in the East Coast Hockey League before suffering a season-ending injury. Following the injury he was asked to stay on with the team as an assistant coach and video coordinator.

With the B-Sens Tim will be primarily responsible for the breakdown of practice and game video footage as well as the day-to-day development of the players.

Tim and his wife, Davanna, have one child, a son named Connor.

-end-

Similar question - does anyone want to take a shot at projecting the Bingo lines this year? I'm not 100% who is available there
