I told my buddy that earlier today. His first decision should be to get rid of that.

I would agree.

It was a neat idea to commemorate everything he did for the Avalanche, and I didn't even have a problem with it being up for that 1 season after he retired.

But to keep having it up? No, that has to stop.

Kroneke is now the President? What in the hell might I ask was he smoking taking on that title?

He knows nothing about hockey and by all accounts Sakic will be the President, but it seems incredibly rude to assume a role that you are not capable of doing simply because your father gave you the team.

“Beginning today, I will be assuming the responsibilities as Avalanche team President,” said Kroenke. “Having had the privilege of learning under a mentor like Pierre Lacroix, and then spending the past few seasons as Governor, I feel ready to become much more involved on a daily basis.”

“I am thrilled to announce that Joe Sakic has agreed to become Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations for the Avalanche,” continued Kroenke. “In that role, Joe will be in charge of all hockey-related decisions moving forward. With his credentials, presence and knowledge of the game, Joe will be a key ingredient in making sure that together we reach our future goals.”

“I am excited for what lies ahead for our hockey club,” said Sherman. “The fact that both Josh and Joe have taken on larger roles speaks to their belief about what this franchise is capable of achieving.”

Kroenke, 33, has spent the last three years as the Avalanche’s Governor, working closely with the organization and Kroenke Sports & Entertainment executives on multiple business operation issues.

Saying he knows nothing about hockey is, well, flat out wrong.

JK runs the business side, pays the bills, and I'm sure gets consulted on the big contracts to make sure they fit in the 'budget.' I'm sure that is the real extent of his hockey influence, though I'm sure he will sit in on a lot of meetings and observe how the hockey side is doing.

He also seemed like he was going to open up the franchise more. So we may have a more visible front office... or JK just likes the cameras on him.

Do people seriously think JK will be making any hockey related decisions?

He's a manager, he manages people. Therefore he will basically surround himself with the right people and make sure that he gets the most out of those people.

You could even leave the locker stall empty Mario-style (just to give a nod to those who did it that it wasn't 100% terrible), but the shrine in plexiglass is just awful.

Send a message via Yahoo to Bonzai12
Joe Ellis is the President of the Denver Broncos, and John Elway is the VP of Football Operations.

The Avs are going to be aligned the exact same way is my guess. You'll barely every hear from JK.

What does that quote have to say to disprove what I wrote?

Josh is a basketball guy, he can learn from Lacroix all he wants but he still doesn't know enough hockey to be a team President. Sakic is President without the title and I think it's an insult to have him do the job without the title/recognition.

I don't mind Josh Kroenke at all. He's got a good thing going with the Nuggets, and it appears Sakic is going to be Masai. Gives us the change we need. Sucks reading that they aren't going to go after a juniors coach, for whatever reason I really want Patty Roy to coach the Avs.

He is managing people, not hockey operations, which he is actually very good at. He wanted to learn more about the game, and took his time to do so. It doesn't matter if he's not rooted in the sport, he's rooted in people, and managing them. That's all he needs to succeed in this position with the Avalanche.

Josh knows plenty about hockey. Just yesterday he learned what line change is.

Being the president goes beyond hockey stuff. Josh has been being primed for positions like this his entire life probably. Extremely doubtful the guy decides who we draft, or trades. From what I gathered Sakic is in charge and has final say on everything hockey related, I'm sure Josh will just help out alot in every other area while contributing on the hockey side as well.

Yeah, he didn't die in a plane crash or a snowblower incident, there has to be a less shrine-y way to honor him. Unless they make that this office and go for total transparency.

Disappointing season, happens sometimes when your young players are your best players.

Sakic says he would consider Roy, but wouldn't name him as a candidate.

First order of business is finding a coach. Want to find one as soon as possible, but not going to rush.

Thinks Josh becoming involved is a huge step and feels they will give him every chance to go after a Stanley Cup.

Talked about how evaluation is easier from above the ice than on it.

Said top 5 or 6 is great and can't go wrong, but have an idea of 1,2, or 3 are going to be.

Likes Seth Jones. Watched him at WJC this season.

That is about the gist of it.

President is a larger role than the on ice hockey product.
