Yeah, that was pretty much my reaction when this guy was so sure they took the train.

He was all "what do you think Caltrain is for?"

And I said "poor people, not NHL clubs".

Thanks!

Yeah, I don't think these guys want to spend 14 hours on a train. Maybe if they actually build the high speed rail...

Amtrak is the Sharks' transportation of choice

The furthest south Cal-train goes is Gilroy

Amtrak goes all the way past LA (to SD).

Now the players fly, but sometimes the equipment drives. ;-)

Guy backed off from his comments, saying it was a joke.

IE: He realized how stupid his comment was and backed tracked.

Thanks for the reassurance, guys, and best of luck.

NHL teams can't afford the train. The Sharks have to travel by Greyhound driven by fellow Sharks fans pro bono.

With the prices on Amtrak I wouldn't be surprised if it's cheaper to fly to LA than it is to take Amtrak.

Also, Do the LA Kings fly to Anaheim?

Amtrak goes down to Bakersfield.... That's it. Then you have to catch a bus to LA.

Uhh, no, you can take it from San Jose all the way to Union Station in LA. I have friends who've done it. It takes about 11 hours.

Have you seen the traffic on the 405? Might be faster to fly, even with the TSA nonsense.

Both of you are right.

Depends. There was a time when the direct route was closed. The central valley route requires the bus. And, the proposed high speed is through the central valley so that linking up will require low speed from SJ to the central valley. The amount of time for both routes is ridiculous compared to plane. If it were routed parallel to the 5 or 101 all the way, the time would be much better. Time on trains versus the mileage in the eastern part of the country are much better and more direct.

Almost certainly faster than driving down 101 and 5 from Staples. Now down 405 from El Segundo to 22 to Arrowhead pond I think there is diamond lane all the way but Kings practice rink is next door to LAX so maybe flying is still the way to go
