Amtrak goes down to Bakersfield.... That's it. Then you have to catch a bus to LA.

Both of you are right.
Depends. There was a time when the direct route was closed. The central valley route requires the bus. And, the proposed high speed is through the central valley so that linking up will require low speed from SJ to the central valley. The amount of time for both routes is ridiculous compared to plane. If it were routed parallel to the 5 or 101 all the way, the time would be much better. Time on trains versus the mileage in the eastern part of the country are much better and more direct.
With the prices on Amtrak I wouldn't be surprised if it's cheaper to fly to LA than it is to take Amtrak.
Also, Do the LA Kings fly to Anaheim?
Almost certainly faster than driving down 101 and 5 from Staples. Now down 405 from El Segundo to 22 to Arrowhead pond I think there is diamond lane all the way but Kings practice rink is next door to LAX so maybe flying is still the way to go
