New York Rangers have several solid prospects in NCAA and Europe

The New York Rangers have never been afraid to sign college free agents, having already signed one defenseman, Conor Allen, to an entry-level contract this spring. Over the past couple of seasons, the Rangers additionally invite two or three potential NCAA free agent signees to development camp in late June. Last summer, Kyle Jean was signed to an entry-level contract after just such a camp.

The Rangers have eight players on their reserve list that either spent the 2012-13 season in Europe or in the NCAA. Of those eight, four skated on clubs in Europe and four on college teams. read more

Nice writeup.

Thomas Spelling plays on the wing though. He's not a defenseman.

What kind of upside do you see in Conor Allen? You seem to like him. I don't know much about the kid.

Nice write up.
Can you clarify why the status of Calle changed?
In last year's write up, it was said he could play in NA next season.
In this year's write up
" is expected to spend a few more years in Europe before coming to play hockey in North America."

Yeah the 3 points in 6 games were just general U20 games. 4 Nations and stuff like that. Not WJC.

That Spelling pick is interesting. Hope he pans out. I don't even want to mention the prospects we passed on at that point in the draft that now look like great picks.

Thanks all for the article, it is nice to see our expectations realized with a few pleasant surprises --- Skjei's shot, and Spelling.
