Brent Seabrook

He has been bad all year. It seems he has lost a step and keeps making bad decisions. He has a high cap number at 5.5 mil I believe so take that into affect.

Do you guys think Bowman explores trades in the summer for Seabrook and possibly keep Bickell and Stalberg with that money? If so, what do you guys think the Hawks can get for him?

Not really. Hard to judge long time players on the shortened season. He was on best defensemen the year before.

Trade Seabrook to keep Stalberg and Bickell? From one Stalberg fan to another, that is a terrible idea. You don't give away top pairing defensemen on reasonable contracts.

He's been a fantastic top-pairing guy for years, but he has had a tough season. So now he must not be a top pairing guy anymore. No argument to be made otherwise, Seabrook just hit a sudden titanic decline at the ancient age of 28 and he'll never return to what he was in the past.

Lol. I don't know if Hawks fans like this guy are especially spoiled, especially whiny, especially stupid, or all three of those. Perhaps it's just HF in general.

Keep circling the hive chuggo. Put Seabrook on the block and watch 29 teams line up.

He must have put on the lounds...looks slowet and not as agile...but all those hits to his head also seem to have fogged his focus and reaction timing...whatever guys are skating arlund him too easily or he is mot in proper position or making poor decisions too often incliding bad clear attempts too often and with slower reaction movement. ..well...now Leddy had to try to bail him out too often..whatever he is way off form this year...BTW...lose the beatd...it is just adding more weight slowing him down and more heat tp fog hid brain...you bet he has regresef...get hom to a gym this smet and get him a focus and intensity coach!

Credibility lost after "anti Seabrook for years". He's was the Hawks best Dman from 2010-11 and 2011-12.

Yeah let's trade a guy who has been part of the best (or 2nd best) dpairs I'm the entire world for 5 years because he's had a rough shortened season...

He has been playing like dog **** though and it's been hurting this team a lot

I've thought Seabrook has had way too much of a pass the last 2 years. I thought he looked like he has this year for half of 2011 too. He's not bad, just not great. He's a top pair dman on almost every roster in the league, he's not having a great year but he hasn't been a disaster either.

He's playing a little below where he probably should be or where we expect, but there's been nothing terrible about him overall. If the Hawks had more major holes other than 2c on the roster, maybe there is a conversation. With the way this team is constructed right now and moving forward for next year, it's probably a really bad idea to think about moving him.

no, Seabrook is not bad and not has been bad.
no, Seabrook was not the worst player yesterday.
no, Seabrook was not the reason why we lost Game 3.

no, Seabrook will not get traded.

Now that Bolland is out, Kane scores, Toews is untouchable and free from critics, Keith playing good and scored a goal and Sharp scored 2 goals in Game 2 - it's time to search the next player to bash and this time it's Seabs.

Has a top 2 defenseman for the best defensive team in the league ever gotten this much flak? I will be the first to say that Seabrook has not been great this season, but many people are really overreacting to a fairly small sample size.

that's right. Yes, he hasn't been that good and great but he wasn't awful or bad.

I don't think it's unfair to say he's having a really bad year. He's getting knocked around, not clearing loose pucks in front of the net, and is making a good amount of positional mistakes. I don't think he's playing as well as he was the past two years.

But to actually suggest trading him??? Insanity. No realistic return would be good enough

Philly already has about 9 centers and are very limited on D. We're not getting Coburn for Bolland.

Olsen is horrendous! People want to talk about Seabs being slow; he looks like a gazelle compared to Olsen. At least Seabrook will play the body; other than the occasional hit from Hjalmarsson he is the only d-man to consistently play physical.

Not a big Olsen fan, but if he has one strength it is his physicality. He is also a turd on skates.

Seabrook has had a bad year by his standards, but he has been a top pairing d-man for years and he's still only 28 - so no, you don't trade him after one bad year.

I think what may have happened is what happens to many players the first season of their new mega contract - they either (1) try too hard to live up to their new contract and end up having a bad year, or (2) relax too much in the offseason with a feeling of "having made it" and end up being out of shape to start the season and never get in the groove all season long. Usually if either of those things happen though, the player regains their form the following season.

Let's just win the Cup and we'll worry about Seabrook next season.
