Agreed, winning the series on something as simple as .2 seconds is heartbreaking.

Don't count out the Sharks either just yet.

They also have some of the most post saves in playoff games I think I've seen in the last 2 years.

Actually, I think the sharks are better suited to beat them. You need heady, gritty players like Torres and Burns to impair his vision and make him pay for that aggressive style.

Wow, just read Larry Brooks article in the New York Post. Didn't realize the Rangers have never won a game 7 on the road. That is pathetic. Just off the top of my head the Devils have won:

1988 Game 7 in Washington to take the Patrick Division Championship

2000 Game 7 in Philadelphia to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals

2003 Game 7 in Ottawa to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals

Caps were fortunate to win in OT.
They iced it twice in the opening and were pinned in for 3 minutes after a few bad turnovers.
They were lucky some Rags shots missed the net.

How many backups win playoff series? This is why he will be the one traded, not Halak.

No, I think Halak gets traded (especially since I read he had issues with Hitch during the playoffs), Allen becomes the starter next year and Elliott goes back to what he should be - a backup.

The rangers spent the entire game in their own zone. They were lucky the game even went to overtime.

Personally I wouldn't have started him, but he wasn't that bad. As opposed to last year against the Kings when he was terrible, and scoring goals on himself. That buzzer beater goal was deflected. He was pretty good this series, he gave up a bad OT goal, but it was on some 2 on 1, and the Blues were giving up lots of them this series.

The post saved Quick at least once a game in this series which is pretty significant when you only win by just a goal.

Elliott wasn't the problem this series for the Blues. Wouldn't stun me if the Blues made some more moves this offseason, maybe give Allen a shot in goal and move one of their forwards around a bit (trade). They also need to focus on locking up Pietrangelo.

I'm not sure the Kings will get any further though despite their recovery in the Blues series to win. The West is looking pretty darn tough.

They haven't played that many game 7's in general.

I remember last year before the Ottawa series game seven it being touted that the Rangers had never lost a game seven at home. Well at that point they had only played 3 game 7's at home (92, and the two 94 series). People forgot during the O6 era they largely weren't a good team and when they did make the playoffs their home games for the most part were played in Toronto because the circus kicked them out of the Garden.

To answer my rhetorical question, if they push this series to seven games it will be the Rangers 6th road game seven in history. In total they have only played 10 game 7s (home or road)

You must have missed the first few minutes of OT.

No I didn't miss anything. The Rags should have lost the game earlier actually. Perreault and Ovechkin missed great opportunities.

Perreault should have scored.
I wanted Lou to acquire him earlier in season when oates was scratching him. Maybe the long hair scared Lou away.

I still have no clue how we won that Ottawa series. That team was probably the most talented team in the league. Good god, that Game 7 was heart attack inducing.

Grant Marshall baby!

I really cannot stand Ottawa, so they deserved that in 2003.

After 96, and 1998.

That team was so fast and exciting. My blood pressure was through the roof that series. Chara, Redden, Alfredsson, Havlat, Hossa, Bonk, Spezza, Fisher, Todd White was good for them too. Man they were dangerous. Goaltending was there issue.

I thought we were definitely toast after Alfredsson scored the OT winner in Game 6. I thought we had no chance going into Ottawa for a Game 7. Thank god for Redden and Rachunek (R.I.P) bungling that play that let Friesen score the winner.
