The reloading of the Vancouver Canucks is complete. Though, we don't feel like we are a Playoff team this season, we feel that our future is incredible. And our future may just be a year or so away. We placed an emphasis on acquiring talented, NHL-ready pieces to ensure that, rather then a slow-painstaking rebuild, we could be a team to be feared as soon as next season. We also felt that, unlike most rebuilds, that it would be extremely beneficial to keep around some of our better players who are still in their prime, like Dan Hamhuis, Cory Schneider, and new team captain; Ryan Kesler. These players will still provide years of quality hockey, and their leadership will play an important part in helping our young roster players to reaching their maximum potential. In addition to the youth within our line up, we re-filled a slim prospect pool:

Non-Roster Prospects

I didn't quite get to my Ovechkin-Malkin-Yakupov line that was in the mix for a while. But I guess that first line is, without a doubt, the most exciting line in the game.

I was trying to make a distinctly International squad with no Canadians and lines that would all represent at SOCHI. Obviously this did not work once I decided to keep Stammer and NTC's ruined my game plan.

In any case, I liked my draft crop of Gauthier, Lehkonen, and Yakimov. The future line combos of Hall-Stamkos-Beck and Zharkov-Yakimov-Yakupov are clear

Your 2013-2014 Pittsburgh Penguins

Chris Kunitz - Sidney Crosby - Jarome Iginla
Thomas Vanek - Evgeni Malkin - Pascal Dupuis
Nick Foligno - Matt Cullen - Eric Nystrom
Tanner Glass - Joe Vitale - Matt Cooke
Steve MacIntyre

Kris Letang - Paul Martin
P.K. Subban - Matt Niskanen
Johnny Boychuk - Deryk Engelland
Robert Bortuzzo

Ryan Miller
Tomas Vokoun

As GM of the Pittsburgh Penguins I have added a few major peices to push this team over the top. The Addition of Thomas Vanek adds another dangerous scoring weapon to our top 6. I brought in a completely new 3rd line of Foligno-Cullen-Nystrom which will be a very effective energy line. On Defence, I aqcuired a second Norris Trophy Nominee in P.K. Subban aswell as Johnny Boychuk, two solid powerplay options with big time slap shots. In goal, I added what i feel is the most important peice. Ryan Miller. In years past it has been our goaltending that has cost us when it's time to step up in the playoffs. With MAF gone and a Miller-Vokoun goaltending tandem, we feel we finally have the solid goaltending this team needs to be the most competitive team in the playoffs.

Well, yeah, the Flames were just awful. I mean, they had practically nothing. He had a good d-man, solid wingers and one good wing prospect, and while I certainly feel I could have done more to make them better in the present, that was not my goal. My goal, throughout all of this, was to make the Flames a better team now, and into the future. The current roster pretty much speaks for itself, considering I had to pretty much rebuild an entire defense and forward corps, along with get a star goalie. Did I succeed? Somewhat. I have a decent offense that should be a playoff offense, I have an arguably average D and a top 5 goaltender. With Vancouver completely rebuilding, we feel as if we can compete with the Wild for the division crown (Sure, we'd probably fall short, but we'd give them a run for their money).

With all that said, just remember, I also rebuilt the prospect pool as well. I added Gormley, Gallagher, Kristo, Nichushkin, Lindholm, Pokka, amongst others outlined below. It was a true building from the ground up for the Flames, and all-in-all, I feel as if the Flames are miles ahead of where they were as an organization, and we will no longer be the punchline to every joke involving crappy trades

When voting, please remember to bury the inactive GM's. They don't deserve the playoffs, nor do they care, really. EDIT: Bury as in still keep them on the ballot, not exclude them. Also, send votes to WK, not me

If you do this, the Northwest division becomes hilariously interesting.

I'd say that the roster I put together looks pretty damn good for a rebuilding team. Through the magic of waivers, Buffalo now has a very deep forward group, and a decidedly average defense.

Vote Buffalo for the playoffs.

So, idea in the chazty, have GM Game power rankings. It would be a cool thing to have, and would include the GM's in this game.

CAP PAYROLL: $54,588,000
CAP SPACE (26 Man roster): $15,612,000

As the GM of the Senators, I'm pretty happy with how this went. I added a lot of toughness, size, grit and defensive, two way ability to the roster. Besides a great top line that has everything, size, quickness, playmaking and sniping ability and the ability to also play defensive, i also have some pretty decent scoring depth on 4 lines with a lot of hard hitters and defensive types mixed in. I have a pretty good d corps with guys who can produce points (gonchar, voynov) and guys who are great shutdown d (phillips, methot). No matter what line/pairing is on the ice I should never have to worry about a lack of defensive responsibility or the ability to shut down the big time scorers and have a physical game. I also have two excellent young goalies who can fight for a spot and compete with each other. More then anything this team is a playoff team completely built for the playoffs. I may not have a lot of super star players (besides Spezza) but I have a lot of good players, moreso than any superstar team. Amazingly enough this is also a team that is barely hitting the cap floor with over 16 million in capspace. So next time Stamkos or Crosby come into FA...

2013-2014 Chicago Blackhawks

FORWARDS
81 - Marian Hossa ($5.275m) / 19 - (C) Jonathan Toews ($6.300m) / 88 - Patrick Kane ($6.300m)
9 - Bobby Ryan ($3.825) / 10 - (A) Patrick Sharp ($5.900m) / 26 - Martin St. Louis ($4.275)
29 - Bryan Bickell ($3.0m) / 36 - Dave Bolland ($3.375m) / 96 - Pierre-Marc Bouchard ($1.0m)
16 - Marcus Kruger ($0.95m) / 15 - Boyd Gordon ($0.525m) / 17 - Matt Martin ($1.0m)
24 - Kyle Chipchura ($0.75m) / 40 - Maxim Lapierre ($1.1m)

DEFENSEMEN
8 - Nick Leddy ($2.5m) / 2 - (A) Duncan Keith ($5.538m)
7 - Brent Seabrook ($5.800m) / 6 - Nikita Nikitin ($2.15m)
27 - Johnny Oduya ($3.383m) / 32 - Michael Roszival ($0.75m)
3 - Jordan Leopold ($0.75m)

GOALTENDERS
72 - Sergei BOBROVSKY ($4.5m)
30 - Ray Emery ($1.5m)

Line 1: Hossa-Toews-Kane: Here you have two of the best two way forwards in the NHL, both of which are regular 70 point players, in Toews and Hossa, along with one of the very best offensive players in the entire NHL in Patrick Kane. There should be no doubt that this is the best line in the game, and should dominate games.

Line 2: Ryan-Sharp-St. Louis: Here we have one of the best young power forwards in the NHL in Ryan, a great shooter in Sharp, and the reigning Art Ross trophy winner in MSL. Again, this should be the best second line in the league, and completes easily the best top six in the league.

Line 3: Bickell-Bolland-Bouchard: This line has one of the best underrated power-shot combinations in the NHL in Bryan Bickell, one of the best shutdown centers in the NHL in Dave Bolland, and a small playmaker capable of 40+ points. This is the shutdown line, and a damn good one at that.

Line 4: Kruger-Gordon-Martin: Good luck playing against this line. The statistically best defensive forward in the NHL in 2013 in Boyd Gordon centers one of the league's best penalty killers in Marcus Kruger and the NHL's leading hitter. There will be no better energy line.

Pairing 1: Leddy-Keith: One of the best young PMDs in the NHL pairs with a former Norris winner, this will be a great pairing offensively and a very good one defensively.

Pairing 2: Seabrook-Nikitin: Two very good defensive defensemen, with size, power, and shooting ability. This will serve as the shutdown pairing.

Pairing 3: Oduya-Roszival: The Blackhawks regular third pairing in 2013, a capable pairing going both ways.

Starting Goaltender: Sergei BOBROVSKY: The likely 2013 Vezina winner, the Blackhawks now have arguably the best goaltender in the NHL. The defence he'll be playing behind in Chicago is exponentially better than that of Columbus', so there is literally no reason he cannot improve on his 2013 numbers.

I feel like I did a really good job making a few big moves to turn the Blackhawks from the best team in the NHL into the best team in the NHL by a country mile. There are very few teams that can skate with the top 6, and very few teams that can bang with the bottom 6. The defence is not spectacular, but solid, and backed by the best goaltender in the NHL. There is no reason this team shouldn't win the Cup.

Vote !
