Tucker,Bell,1st for Mckee or
Tucker, Pilar,1st for Mckee or
Tucker, Doherty,2nd for Mckee
Fair?
That's big time overpayment for a guy who got like 5 assists last season. He's a solid defenseman and all, but I think a 1st+ is too much. Plus, this move doesn't help Buffalo for this season and their management wants a playoff berth this spring.
Before you roll your eyes at me again, why don't you go ahead and whip out the list of people Tim Connolly has fought over the past 3 years? Or how about Curtis Brown's list? Dumont's? Satan's? Brier's? Hecht's? Exactly. Even if Tucker doesn't fight anyone tough, at least he'll go in the corners. Hell this guy is very cheap. I'd love to have a cheap player on this team. At least it'll make us somewhat feared, even if it is for a bad reason.
None of those players are fighters, but then again neither is Tucker. Given a choice of all of those players Tucker is the second last player I would take (Hecht is complete and total junk). I'd rather have players that know they aren't tough, and play the game accordingly, than have a punk who thinks he's tough and is as much a distraction to your own team as he is to the opposition. Don't forget that with all the **** that the little puke creates, all of the other players on the team have to live with the ramifications. Tucker cheapshots a player on the other team, then your top players are open game and have to skate on egg shells. He may get a guy off his game, but he can do the same for his own team as well. Yup, a real good guy to have on the team.

Ok, I don't know what I did to piss you off, so I'm just gonna assume that, although you may have more posts than me, you're still a dick for rolling your eyes at me again.
And your statement that Hecht is "complete and total junk" is a complete and total JOKE. Obviously you know your hockey. For a guy who has never finished with a plus/minus below +4, a guy who has scored over 40 points twice and was having a great year with Buffalo with 26 points in 49 games, that seems like pretty good "junk" to me. Especially for someone who has rarely, if ever been on the top line of any team. He had great success on the 2nd line with Buffalo last year, and allready it looks as if that line is connecting well in this year's training camp.
I never said I would trade anyone for Tucker. All I said was I would "consider bringing him in if there was room on the roster." Meaning, if there is an empty spot on say, the 3rd or 4th line, I would CONSIDER bringing a guy who gets under opponents' skin onto the team. If he distracts the locker room, then fine, I'd get rid of him. But thats just my way of thinking. Sorry it isn't consistent with the allmighty Lanny McDonald's .
People on this board call hab fans hommers and say we come up with dumb trades when stuff like this is posted? Tucker is nothing and you could not give him away. As for the rest why would buffalo want prospects they are a young team and they want to make the playoffs and not to mention these teams are in the same division. This is not ever going to happen.
Cheap, dirty players have a place in hockey. Glenn Anderson was cheap and dirty. After high sticking someone, he would say talk to Sammy (Semenko). Tucker's 180 lbs and fought out of his weight class taking on Neil and Ray. As far as the pick goes, it can be flipped for something that will help the Sabres make the playoffs - as could the forward like Curtis Brown who could be dealt with the depth Tucker gives you at forward. Is Brown and a 1st rounder enough for Boynton? Then you are looking at Boynton and Tucker for Brown and McKee. I'd do that. If you get the Queefs to throw in a decent prospect, so much the better.

I don't like Tucker as human being, because of the cheap shots but that is not the issue that concerns me.
First, he is pretty weak defensively. He is a gritty and tough, but I've seen him loose his check more than once and he does have a history of spotty plus/minus.
Second, he is overrated offensively. He had 10 goals and 34 points last year. True, he also has a few 50 point campaigns to his credit, but its hard to say which way things will go with him in the future. I wouldn't be shocked if hit 20 goals again. But, it will also not surprise me if he output stayed at last seasons' level. I personally think he is more likely to get 15 than 20.
Third, I don't think Tucker is particularly intimidating. I think he is irritating as hell, and gets other teams off their game. But, bigger stronger guys like Jason Wiemer and Valac Varada might be better to have in that role.
In a way, Tucker reminds me of Jonus Hoglund. A player with some limited abilities who Toronto got on the cheap. He had some career years in Toronto and then got proclaimed a "30 goal scorer" but some Leaf fans. But, in the end, his goal scoring was restricted to a career years and he showed his true colors over time.
I think Tucker has come down from his impressive 60-pt +24 year. I think will see more weak +/- stats, and more 30 - 40 point seasons. But, that is just my guess, and it could certainly go the other way as well.
WTF??? Darcy Tucker??? Fight anybody? Stand up for anybody? Please, that's a joke. Tucker is a cheapshot little ******* that has people step up and wanna beat his ass, not the other way around. Here's a list of those he has fought over the past three years.
Chris Neil (OTT), Chad Kilger (MON), Adam Mair (BUF), Jeremy Roenick (PHI), Bill Lindsay (MON), Francis Boullion (MON), Luke Richardson* (PHI), Scott Hartnell (NAS), Brad Ference* (FLO), Bill Muckalt (OTT), Marcus Nilsson (FLO), Rob Ray (BUF), Bill Guerin (BOS), Mark Lawrence (NYI), Kevin Haller (NYI), Cory Sarich (TPA), Craig Adams (CAR), Sean O'Donnell (MIN)
* Instigated after a Tucker related injury to team mate.
Wow, that's a list of players that certainly have a reputation for dropping the mitts. Francis Boullion? Bill Muckalt? Marcus Nilsson? What a he man! Definitely a guy you want on your team.
Yeah I was at that Leaf/Flyer game...3 fights in the first minute...at the end of the game Tucker and Richardson fought and I couldn't believe Tucker knocked him down...but as dirty and crazy as he can be, he is a tough S.O.B....
