Seriously doubt Toronto goes after Luongo with the emergence of Reimer. Also really doubt Kessel gets dealt after how he's played late in this season + playoffs. Showing a new level of compete that we hadn't seen before.

So Toronto gets older and slower.

Easy no from the Leafs.

If we are weighing players' value, and not contracts teams that win trades (in most circumstances) get the best player. In this trade, Kesler is - by far - the best player. Vancouver would not make this deal with Kesler as the center piece.

Value wise, Vancouver says no. Chemistry wise, Toronto says no.

The guy who has finished top 5 and 6 in scoring the last 2 seasons while being younger, faster and less injury prone says hello.

Kessel is also on a 1-year deal, and will likely command 7 mil.

Valuewise Kesler > Kessel due to that alone.

Hamhuis > Gardiner and Luongo >> Scrivens.

Grabo has minimal value.

A perennial 20-25 goal scorer is "by far" the best player in that deal?

Wrong, value is calculated by what said player brings to his team. As such (right now) Kessel>Kesler. As far as money....the Leafs have the cap space, so it isn't an issue.

No arguement, but paying a backup 5.3 (cap) for 9 more years doesn't seem prudent. We have Reimer so Luongo is not needed.

I was speaking entirely from a Vancouver standpoint, and why we'd refuse this deal.
