Pens are huge underdog in this one.

Sens have top-3 goalie, best defense man and player in the world + much better defense overall. Offense is pretty much equal. Sens in 4 or 5

Agreed....and if Ottawa chooses to unleash that Spartan guy pre-game, Crosby will **** himself and run back to the bus.

Why are all these non Sens fans picking the Pens as underdogs??

That's seriously crazy. The difference with the Habs and the Pens is that they actually have offence that can finish. The Habs did not.

I will say I was less than impressed with the Pens last series. But I can not expect that this series.

I'd love the Sens to win, but anything more than a sweep is great! This series IMO will be a learning experience for the Sens.

And as for the Sens speed, it's not awful, but without spezza and a fully healthy karlsson it is not great.

The Sens are the type of team that the Pens usually have a tough time against...

I love Karlsson, but I think the hyperbole surrounding him over the last couple of years has really gotten bad.

If the regular season Pens, who could actually change their tactics and learn from their mistakes shows up for this series, I don't think the Sens can match them. If we see the playoff Pens of the first round and the last few years, the Senators have a very good chance of taking out an overrated Pens team.

Vokoun makes this much more difficult.

Ottawa's D is going to have their work cut out for them.

BTW, the Pens aren't the underdog in any series except MAYBE the Blackhawks.

Sens fans: How has Karlsson been after his injury? Is he still the same player out there? Is there some rust or lingering issues?

I have to add coaching: Massive edge to Ottawa, Bylsma is probably worst playoff coach in long time.

He skates nothing like he did before his injury. Lacks the acceleration and jump which affects his ability to defend and skate out. Moves slowly about. His passes and vision is evident but he's nothing like he was at the start of season.

The Pens are the underdogs in every way except for the players on the ice.

Coaching mustache quotient, arena hot dogs, Spartan introductions...

Karlsson will disappoint if you're expecting the game-changing player who handles the transition from offence to defence and vice versa with ease.

He has to work a lot harder to join the rush and/or back-check. It's sad, but we'll take any EK we can get. He's still good along the blueline.

And obviously, the Senators are heavy underdogs in any series they play from here on. Pens are a team of all-stars in their prime. Sens are a bunch of babyfaced kids led by a handful of elders whose best days are behind them. I hope they can put up a decent fight.

On paper the Pens will win in 4, but that was also the case with NYI.

I feel confident, Sens in 6.

I'm honestly surprised at the number of people going with Ottawa in this series. I'm curious though, as to what percentage of people picking Ottawa are doing so because they honestly think that the Sens are the better team, and which percentage are doing so because hating the Penguins & Crosby has been en-vogue for the last half decade or so...

it's a combination of (in order):

-people hate the Pens
-Pens played like crap this past series
-Ottawa could play like the Isles did and they have the much better goalie

Worse since his injury, remember the not giving the norris this year because of it?
