Californian Darin Pastor looking to finalize "premium" purchase of Coyotes

http://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/n...lize-deal.html

Quote:
California investment executive Darin Pastor will be in Phoenix tomorrow to finalize his group’s proposed bid to buy the Phoenix Coyotes and keep them in Glendale.

Pastor is the head of an Orange County investment firm Capstone Affluent Strategies. He is also a former investment executive with Prudential Insurance of America.

His group wants to purchase the Coyotes from the National Hockey League, which has owned the team since a 2009 purchase out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Pastor’s group also could bid to manage Jobing.com Arena. The city of Glendale owns the 10-year old arena and is expecting bids from outside parties for managing ad marketing the facility. Those bids are due May 24.

Pastor’s family previously owned the American Hockey League Buffalo Bison from 1956 to 1971. They also owned the regional Pepsi distribution businesses in Upstate New York.

Quote:
The bid is described as being a "premium" deal for the NHL and could be done by early June as it involves Pastor's family and would not involve outside investors.

And the Renaissance group is apparently still in the running per Sunnocks.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Third time I've written that in the past 6 months alone.

As with every ownership story on the Coyotes:

The Phoenix Coyotes may soon have a new owner that will keep the team in Glendale for the foreseeable future, INSERT NAME HERE......

Enter potential buyer #682. Maybe he'll be different from the 681 that came before him.

As I've joked in a few other topics, I'll believe that someone bought to keep them in Glendale is real once the NHL releases a press release confirming that the buyer's check didn't bounce.

At first glance taking a look at the thread title, I thought it read 'California Dreaming looking to finalize....'

Can't be too far off

Give that pastor a chance.

He wants to prevent the Coyotes relocation to Winnipeg.

Then I'm all for his bid. The last thing our city needs is yet another NHL franchise...

What's a "premium" purchase in this context?

Look no smart business man or group will buy the coyotes & keep them Arizona for the long term just look at all the failed attempts the NHL. has had in trying to find some sucker to drop the coyotes on Reinsdorf , Ice Edge , Hulsizer , Jaimson & now this Renaissance group & Darin Pastor . What makes these guys any diffrent from the last 4 failed attempts not much because they will just run into same brick wall as the rest of them did the GWI. . All it will do is add to the list of failed attempts to sell the coyotes to some sucker that will keep them in Arizona & then maybe one day the NHL. will wake up & sell the coyotes to some one that will move them & give them a fresh start in a new city which should of happened 4 years ago .

He's got coupons that allow him to make a deposit...

(As a side note, I took a long break, basically from the internet, with the occasional look at some news stories. I come back here and find a lot of new names doing all the same familiar things....

...why do I even have an internet connection?)

He is going to do a premium purchase, so he wants to be treated like a premium purchaser. He is hoping to see a game in a luxury box on the NHL's dime, while he works on the deal. Maybe they'll let him watch a Taylor Swift concert or two from one as well.

So many irregular salad bowls, but which is the one for me?

Oh, hell. I'll just buy a hockey team instead. Salad is too complicated and not nearly premium enough.

Another potential buyer? One of these days 1 of these potential buyers will end up buying the team. Be nice for it all to end soon.

This guy's an investor. My guess is he gets to indulge in the family tradition of owning a hockey team for a few years, then turns around and flips it to a group from Quebec or Markham.

The NHL. should face fact that they are never going to be able to sell the coyotes to any prospective owner or group that will keep them in Arizona for the long term nobody is that stupid & its time to sell the coyotes to someone who will move them to a new city such as Quebec City , Hamilton or Seattle so they can get a fresh start & brighter future .
