You can meassure the hockeys development in a country by draftees ,though.

So I guess Latvia is out if Austria wins? I think that is another reason to cheer for Austria. Mostly because of that one Latvian guy posting here.

The Russian defense is not showing Austria the respect of bothering to mark them. They are allowing Austrian forwards to congregrate in front of Varlamov and have a beer party. The 2nd and 3rd goals were off of deflections that were lucky, but you make your own luck by getting good position in front of the goal. Luckily, the Austrians aren't doing much better in keeping the puck out of their net, so I'm still thinking the Russians will stumble through this and get a victory.

Get back to talking about the game now, please. Some posters can't reply anyway.

okay. Russia will probably win this, because there's no way the Austrian attackers get abandoned by Russian defenders again.

I disagree about the goals 2 and 3. if every Vanek deflection is lucky he'd be the most lucky guy in the world

Respect to austrians. I have to ask for forgiveness about my native "comentators" here.

You would laugh if you would see how we talk about our own team in our native sportspages. We aren't happy at all. But we still think we are better than some nations despite being wrong. If you can remember the U20 WCh we praised our team as having lots of high ranked prospects... but we lost to everyone. I really dont understand why this is so with our nation.. we are mostly jeallous of others and that is why we praise the only thing we have left - hockey. I am surprised how good we play at some point, but... Our mentality is not ment to be great at something, unless we talk about being slaves.

Not out of it but it changes things for tomorrow. Basically, whatever Austria gets today, Latvia has to match tomorrow against Finland. If Austria and Latvia end on the same amount of points, Austria holds the tie-breaker. If Austria gets a point here and France loses tomorrow, giving Austria, France and Latvia 6pts a piece, Latvia is relegated due to goal difference in matches tied.

So most Latvians will cheer for Russia just because it means we are 100% safe but even if Austria gets points, we hold our own fate.

Yes, if we wanna get past the quarters we're gonna need some of these guys like Mozyakin to wake up, can't be a one line team.
