First Vanek forces the PP, then he loses the puck and its 6-4 russia.

Shoulda given Vanek the penalty shot instead

This tournament is boring, but watching the elite teams struggle is awesome.

Slovenia only has 1 point and Canada is second place, and then there is this game.

I disagree with "boring" - I think it's incredible refreshing to have so few blowouts and surprises lurking under every surface. Shows that the overall quality of the medium teams have risen a great deal lately.
Looks promising for the future.

Boring in the sense that all the teams are playing really crappy hockey. It feels like watching Division II hockey.

Well the big teams can only blame themselves to take the lesser teams too lightly. The underdogs do their best with the material they have and it's only shameful for the big nations if someone finds that crappy hockey.
Contrary to earlier times the underdogs don't stand 3 periods defending, but actually try to make goals. That makes it much more interesting.

On the contrary, I'm having a blast watching "past" Division II teams make fools of the elite.

Got to admit - there is something not right with KHL. Russia, Latvia, Belarus - all packed with KHL players and seem to struggle way too much against players from other leagues (not even talking about NHL here).

4-8: still a chance though or maybe not with time running out.
Good effort by the Austrians, shame they didn't have better goalkeeping today.
Latvia blood pressure falls back to normal level.

Theoretically we can still end up in 1/4 final. At least in theory it's possible.

In this World Cup anything can happen. Slovenia was very close to a regular win over Canada and pass Belarus in points, but "only" got an OT against Canada.

It's not the KHL problem, it's a different approach to selection of players...

Belarus has a second youngest team here, they're creating a new NT model and most of players aren't even from KHL but for their own league (expected to play for Dinamo Minsk next year in attempt of bringing a more Belorussian Minsk to life)

Russia... well, this isn't a typical Russian team. Only one NHL star, some youngsters added too. And don't forget that they have lost only vs the home team, Finland and France (a blunder). They might play not too good but had they won vs France as they should, they'd be nr.1 in their group after today's game. For teams like Russia WC starts in play-off round

Latvia- you know that we had problems with goalies (found our saviour in the face of our 3rd one, Gudlevskis from junior league) and actually some of the better KHL players are not with the team due to injuries, ''injuries'' or what-not, so if we sum that all up it isn't that much surprising.

Slovakia also has a very KHL-like squad and are struggling but then again they won silver last year and the team also consisted of KHL players mostly, so one year is not a measure of anything...

It doesn't matter. "Drafted" doesn't mean anything. Yes, they have. This team has progressed, this generation has. I've seen us play againts them before, and this Austria is different, much better.

You would laugh if you would see how we talk about our own team in our native sportspages. We aren't happy at all. But we still think we are better than some nations despite being wrong. If you can remember the U20 WCh we praised our team as having lots of high ranked prospects... but we lost to everyone. I really dont understand why this is so with our nation.. we are mostly jeallous of others and that is why we praise the only thing we have left - hockey. I am surprised how good we play at some point, but... Our mentality is not ment to be great at something, unless we talk about being slaves.
Shut the hell up, you low life! There is limit to everything, but don't call my nation that, you freaking non-citizen!
