Latvia plays better against stronger teams than weaker ones. I wouldn't put money on Latvia, but I don't see why I shouldn't approach the next game with optimism.

This group is absurdly equal for the 4'th QF with only one game left.

Latvia will be in QF if:

Latvia beats Finland
France beats Germany
Slovakia loses to USA
Austria loses to Russia.

Latvia beating Finland looks like it is the hardest part.......but in that game you have nothing to lose

I personally dont believe it because our NT is quite streaky and can be excellent at times, but sometimes completley lose their game like against Austria. When we are up against a wall we will win most of the games.

You're the best and loudest fans in international hockey. You're also a small country like Finland. It's very easy to be a Latvia fan!

To continue our love fest, I'll admit that I fell in love with Finnish hockey during Torino Olympic games. I was so crushed when Finland eventually didn't get more out of the tournament

That was huge yes. And it all came down to Koivu's broken stick in the end...so close, so close.

In my mind, the game in Turin against Russia was team hockey perfection to a tee. Russia had zero chance in the game, it was unbelievable, a perfect storm in more ways than one.

Ain't that the truth? And then there is even further idiots, who compare every lost hockey game to the country, and try to pull politics into it, claiming that if we lose in hockey, then we also should fail as country... Who do these people work for?

You can hope, but Finns are masters at physical play and provocations. I think we must keep our **** wired tight against Finland, because they'll use every bit of opportunity to provoke people like Berzins, Cipulis and other hot-headed fools. Discipline is the key word against Finland.

I just have to post my joy here Great thanks to the Latvian fans that aren't latvian.

About the finnish national team... I do like your playing style, but I started to have a doubt wether to root for you, guys, or not after the Ruutu thing... Cant remember against whom, but he injured a star player once... maybe even Jagr... Then again this incident with Kovalchuk... the finns tried to provoke him all the time then his patience went thin and barely hit your defenseman in the face and he fell down like he was hit by a truck.
Too much provokations in your style of play for my taste.

Youre probably right,if we are so exhausted we cant even give a physical beating to French we have no hope in that aspect against Finns.

Kovalchuk responded with a sucker punch, which wasn't a light one.
