Yeah Yashin was bad. But it was only 10 years as opposed to 15 and the Isles managed to get 5 seasons out of Yashin where he put up 290 points in 346 games (82 game pace of 69 points per season).

The Isles got 2 full seasons of Dipietro after the contract was signed plus 5 seasons where he played between 3 and 26 games.

Aren't the Islanders still paying out that contract as well till like 2016 or something?

Not as bad as having to pay Dipietro until he's 50. Holy **** that's a long time.

True that.

Bozak contract talks expected to resume today with Leafs. Proposal on the table believed to be 8 years at less than $5 mil per.

8 years for an average player like Bozak?

That's absolutely terrible. Welcome to the new CBA where even average players are getting long term deals to keep cap hits down.

I hope we don't fall into that trap. It's another case of pushing your problem into the future when most of the GMs who created the problem will be gone.

I really hope (but also doubt) it eventually works out in Phoenix. But fact is that franchise is bleeding away $20M + a year. They should have been relocated a long time ago.

Yeah, I don't ever like seeing a franchise relocate, but agreed on should of been done a while ago, 20m+ a year is ridiculous.

If they do relocate, I hope it's Seattle though. Granted it's risky to go into a brand new market so to speak, but I think it would be a good move as Seattle seems a strong market from what I've read on the Business Hockey forum here.

Ballard to Minnesota for 1.5M for 2 years is a good deal. They get a good mid pairing guy and he has a job for 2 years until the cap probably goes back up.

So, Seguin heads home after a night of drinking and partying, and the first thing he's going to do is... call Mom and tell her about it?

I found it funny more because a "professional" has his mommy defending him in the media.

Tyler just needs to grow up and learn some real life, in lockout he was in Switzerland and left his house/flat with a big mess behind. Cleaning wasn't his skill.

Rask contract is bad, so is Clarkson, Elias, Horton, Streit, Filpulla, Clowe, and Bickel. If the cap goes up to 70+ I guess maybe not as bad, but I don't see how Rask gets a better contract than Lundqvist, Clarkson gets a 1st liner contract when he shows nothing but 3rd line production, Streit gets that term on a 35+, Horton who has no shoulders gets 7 years, Elias who's 37 gets 3 years, Filpulla who was horrible gets 5mil, Clowe who had multiple concussion issues and terrible play gets that much, and Bickel who's only claim to fame is some playoff performances.

I can't help but laugh, NJ are so ****ed not only because they've lost their 2 best wingers (maybe 3 if you want to include Clarkson) in the last 12 months, they are going to have massive cap penalties as well.

What a shambles
