Marinaro has the "guts" to ask the same short sighted questions his radio show takes calls on.

That's it. He's appeasing his trolls.

Who cares about going from 15th in the East to 2nd when you lose a fight, I agree. Can't believe we're not focusing on enforcers, the most important thing in hockey.

I think that question about a player taking a bigger place on the team was for Eller... MB thought it was Gally.

Not enough Galchenuk or Eller and too much Gallagher by MB.

What else is the guy supposed to say?

He's already acknowledged the team has to get bigger.

thats what i thought the journalist was aiming at but seems like MB cant get gallagher out of his head...which i dont disagree with because gallagher was fantastic this year and i think exceeded everyones expectations but i just feel like there is nothing eller can do that will get him some kind of recognition

You have to compare it to the obvious answers that management always use. He could have answered that he'd take the BPA no matter the size. The fact that he says that he'd be looking for that makes me think that one of the factor to determine the BPA will be size.

Can't believe RDS cut to commercials DURING the press conference and didn't even go back to it after the commercials ended. PC is over now.

We went from 15th to 2nd in a shortened season and we were on a downward spiral the final 3 weeks. We bowed out of the playoffs the same way we ended the year, beat up, knocked around and physically spent.

So lets all pretend having any size on the backend, or down the middle is ok. Lets all ignore the fact when one of the only physical players go down, we are in for a world of hurt. Lets keep ignoring the issues that this team is the softest in the NHL, and deserved exactly what it got in the post season, because we aren't built for the playoffs.

What I gather is Marc Bergevin is doing things the right way.

- he's sticking by his players
- recognizes that balance is key (will look at size in draft)
- will look into trades without mortgaging the future (thank god)
- Really likes Price, Beaulieu, Galchenyuk and Gallagher.

and from what I gathered MB expects DD to bounce back and I think its only fair that he gets that chance, If he fails then consider a trade involving him. People complaining about having 3 players under 5'10 need to keep in mind that Gio is gone after this year if he comes back from injury. The picture starts becoming more clear.

Pacioretty - Galchenyuk - Gallagher

Bourque - Plekanec - xxxxxxx

xxxxxxx - Eller - xxxxxxxx

Prust - xxxxxxxx - xxxxxxxxx

target Gauthier, Mantha, Erne, Horvat, Lazar in this draft

The kid of comment that you feel like a rabbit in a hole is normal after you lose? Strange...I didn't see a whole lot of players say that everything their team lose....

I guess the same applies to Pageau as well and a few others. True. But at one point, picking up Gallagher in the 5th also means that when there's a surefire BPA in your books, you go with the guy no matter how big he was. So if every team works the same, you might be concentrating in size first...doesn't mean you won't be able to get your BPA smallish guy later. Win-win. Again, based on Timmins, I don't have any worries that he will recognize a smaller player if he is so much ahead of everybody else. I mean, if Max Domi fell mostly because he isn't as tall, Timmins will be all over him. 'Cause on top of size, Bergevin talked a lot about character as well. Character will also be recognized.

Who are we talking about here in your unmoveable contracts? Point is, if there are contracts like that, it's probably being traded to teams with some room to accomodate it. And if you mostly stick with the quality of the player, chances are that said player is probably able to play on every line if things don't go well. Which is probably not the case with DD. You either believe he's top 6....or you don't go after him. There are still question marks with him right now.

Bouillon is under 5'10 too

MT needs to change the mentality of this team, nothing else will give us a win.

It's only you who's choosing to believe these things are being ignored, because you have a flair for the extremely dramatic. Nobody is claiming the edition of the Habs we saw this year is the finished product. We made great progress this year, including winning the Northeast (yes ahead of the big bad Bruins) despite competing with the softest roster ever assembled. It must be a miracle.

These post-mortem pressers are always the same. Did anyone think he was going to denigrate any of his players or coaches? Did we think for a second that he would tip his hand on his plans for the off-season? I think he knows that the team needs to get bigger. I think he knows that Carey needs to be better (on a side note: am I the only one that feels that Pierre Groulx might be "evaluated" out of a job this summer?)

I would've liked to have heard him speak more about the emergence of Eller, but otherwise it's pretty much what I expected.
