Wow a lot of out of whack proposals in this thread. Miller and a pick for Coyle and Phillips. Pominville couldn't even net Coyle. Minnesota doesn't touch that with a 10ft pole and do they even have a need for a goaltender? 1 year of Vanek for O'reilly? Sure sign me up, but why the hell does Colorado even consider that? O'reilly is 21 and already a fantastic shutdown center he's also under team control for several years. That trade makes no sense for Colorado.

Yeah Miller won't bring back Coyle, as I doubt Minny will entertain any thoughts of trading Coyled anyway.

If Vanek wants out though, Minny is the place to get the best value since Vanek is likely to re-sign there. They want some scoring, have Heatley to include in the trade or buyout, and still have the type of assets that Buffalo would want (prospects like Zucker or Brodin).

Minnesota isn't trading Granlund, Coyle or Brodin.

There were rumblings that Minnesota initially offered Granlund in the Pominville deal but that Darcy preferred Larsson. Who knows how true that is, but I've read it a few times around here.

I can't imagine that's actually true.

Odd, I've heard Regier asked for Granlund initially and the Wild said no.

That sounds a hell of a lot more likely. If Regier passed up Granlund for Larsson he should be fired on the spot. Honestly Vanek would be a great fit in Minnesota, but if they aren't ponying up one of Dumba or Coyle I'm probably trading him elsewhere. With that said I wouldn't expect much more coming back with one of those guys.

Potential Vanek landing spot? I would definitely want Zibenajad coming back.

I wish I could remember where I saw it, but the explanation was that we had too many similar players to him and he preferred the gritty, defensively sound player over another smallish, skilled player. I'm pretty sure it was being discussed on the Minnesota forum.

Interesting. I don't think Regier would move him there unless Zibenajad was the main piece coming back. That said, I doubt Murray includes Zibenajad or Silfverberg in any deal.

Already reportedly on the table for Burmistrov. I know those two deals have vastly differing amounts of team control, but...

I can't imagine that to be true. Fletcher's post-trade comments touched on being able to make that type of trade precisely because they had build such a strong pool in guys like Coyle, Granlund, Zucker, Brodin, and Dumba.

We are not getting that quality of a prospect/young roster player in return for one season of Vanek. In any event, given that he was referring to "prospects," I doubt he was talking about a player who played a full season with their NHL club. I'm guessing that Murray was alluding to prospects like Ceci, Puempel, Noesen, Prince, and Stone--perhaps even their mid-1st rounder. The only young roster player(s) I could see on the table are Silfverberg and Wiercioch.

Odd. Opposite of what I've heard from a couple people who have associations with the team.

You probably had it more right than I do. I'm citing message board posts.

Aside from trading Vanek and Miller, are there any pick packages Regier could form to acquire additional first rounders in the '14 and '15 drafts?

I'm assuming Regier will be able to add a first for Vanek and Miller in separate deals. Any way Regier finagles more firsts using the picks he acquired at the deadline?

So you're citing "rumblings" from message board posts and honestly taking them into consideration as valid? No, you're not doing that..... Um, right?

maybe they could just Add Spezza and Karlsson to improve their scoring... and it costs nothing in trade assets

They could, but Murray hinted at the trade route.

This is what I thought he meant when I read the blurbs.

Sounds like a good deal could be made but damn, I hate the idea of playing the current Ottawa + Vanek.

before I fell asleep last night i had terrible visions of the '13-'14 season with no vanek or miller...
enroth might do OK, but the defense and scoring welp, maybe they'll finally get the 3rd #1 pick in franchise history?

Those posts referenced articles making the claims. No confirmation of their veracity but there you are.

There was a post-trade report out of Minnesota that documented how asst. GM Brent Flahr was upset in losing Larsson but accepted that one of either Granlund or Larsson had to be forfeited - leaving the result easy to conclude the Wild were less willing to part with Granlund than Larsson.
