Thanks for stirring it up . We needed something to squabble about.
Uhm yeah, we are not real contenders like the Pens. We are called, in sports terms, "underdogs". Therefore if we win the series that is what is called an "upset". If the Pens somehow, like 1 in a million chance, lose you would be labelled "chokers". Gag.
I bet you that game 2 will be faster and rougher.
Did I also mention that Ottawa has no answer for the Pens power play?
The worst call, IMO, was when Conacher shot crosschecked Letang
Yeah, cross checks to the face should never be reacted to, I mean the nerve of him taking a composite stick to the face by a guy, forcefully, and reacting to the pain. They are here for our entertainment.
This series sucks. Friggin NHL and there garbage scheduling. Coming off a great series with MTL we get this trash where we have to wait 3 days between games. The season is gonna end sometime in 2015 at this rate. /rant
NHL could have scheduled game 1 for Wednesday, but they knew everyone wanted to get it going ASAP.
I think it is because Rangers and Bruins played their last game monday. That way in case Pittsburgh or Ottawa sweeps the series while other two go to game 7 break would been too long. Especially as this series is more likely to be shorter than other. Or I might be over analyzing it
So my thoughts are this game is going to be a bit tighter, with more pressure in front of the net for Vokoun. Conacher will continue to do what he does, and get under the skin of the Pens.
That said I don't think there is a bad situation here for Ottawa. Realistic people know that we were underdogs to make it as far as we have, and even moreso moving forward. If we lose this series we get the 17th draft pick and if we win we move up to 27th at best.
Obviously the goal is to win the cup, but given what has happened to the Sens this year I'm okay either way. I'll still be pissed when they lose (re: Tuesday) but I'll rationlize afterwards, and I'll be elated when they win.
All I can say is that I hope Ottawa has been watching Boston's last couple of games.......
maybe witnessing THAT kind of urgency will inspire them to bring some of their own tonight because IMO, that was one of the things that seemed to be lacking in their game on Tuesday ~ urgency.
Pffffft. You're talking Ottawa here.
The city that has needed a new stadium for years but after 10+ years finally got the wheels in motion, only to be interrupted by a local interest group (Friends of Landsdowne) then finally put shovel to sod.
The city that waited close to a decade to can Jacques Martin.
The city where ambition, dreams and creativity die on the tables of City Council.
The city where a citizen rowed a boat down Carp Creek (I shan't call it a river) to stop construction of the Palladium.
We don't do anything urgently, unless it's complaining.
We're good. We got this.
