Exactly, he kept his check from getting the puck into the slot which is clearly what Crosby was trying to do.

Of course Crosby being Crosby he was able to make a play to the outside, and poor coverage on the blueline allowed for a goal.

**** happens! Spezza did everything he was supposed to on that play though.

Agreed. I remember watching that live - I don't think I've ever seen Spezza cover a guy so well defensively.

It will be! Im excited to see what the Senators can do. The Penguins are clearly a much more skilled and experienced team the Ottawa, but young players have to learn what it's like to play in a pressure cooker at some point.

There is no better way to learn then by playing the most skilled team in the east. Win or lose they'll be better for it. This team has shown a lot of character in the face of adversity all season, hopefully they can play their best game of the playoffs.

Oh you guys mean the series isn't over after 2-0? No ****. Pens, on their way to the Cup, had two 0-2 series starts on the road. Did it matter? Hell no. They went on to win each of them in 7.

Let's not be too parochial around here. Pens need to steal one on the road out of two games. That's their business. Sens are attempting to hold serve. They get favorable line changes and should have their right match ups to take advantage of.

Soooo let's see what happens tomorrow before we foresee the future.

I know you're new here, but, really? Please don't embarrass Pens fans. You know, they lump us all together. I hate that.

I think most Sens fans know 9/10 Pens fans are very knowledgable and great to talk about hockey with. There's the odd idiot, but every fan base has one of them.

Id say that the ratio of idiots to rational fans is more skewed to the former in every fan base. Although that may just be reflective of the fans who post on message boards and call into radio shows.

Actually, now that I think about it, I guess the question begging to be asked is whether it is even possible to compare the abstract (intangibles) within the confines of a finite space (Sid's pinky)?

Spezza is a bit of a hail mary at this point.

And why not.

Don't see a rusty Spezza doing a lot for the Sens, maybe a few more offensive chances but he's been dominated by the Pens before.

We'll see what happens.

he was on him for like 8 seconds and didn't manage to get the puck away. There is something to be said about that. I mean you can shadow a guy all you want but if you never get the puck away or force him to make a bad play, then what good is that defensive coverage?

A rusty Spezza could take some pressure off of Turris, as he'll also be bumped down to the 2nd line, where he's much better.

We also badly need a shakeup. Can't hurt that much at this point.

This.

A series isn't over until it's over. The Pens need to stay focused because Ottawa is going to come to play in their building, the Pens have to match that intensity and emotion.

He kept him from getting into a dangerous area, and forced him to make a play to the outside. It's not Spezza's fault that somebody else failed to cover their check along the blueline.

There's a big difference being down 0-2 when you have crosby and malkin on your team instead of old man alfreddson and broken down karlsson

Well I guess we'll see what happens I'm not too worried.

If Ottawa looses Ottawa looses every year the learn more and do better.

Next year they'll be more ready to get this going.

You realize that our 40+ year old captain single-handledly killed a penalty for us last night AND is still quite able to outguess opposing players?

As for Spezza, great news but very few expectations. Hopefully he helps out "O" and doesn't get too much abuse. :p

Tomorrow?

Will the Ottawa forum explode with conspiracy theories knowing that we're about to "start" a series where the Pens can go 2-3 and move on, but Ottawa has to go 4-1? Uncle Gary has really stepped up his game.

I never said he was bad but obviously at 40 he's not the player he once was. And second of all, Crosby and Malkin are the 2 best players in the game, a spot Alfreddson never sniffed in his prime.

sooo you kinda missed the point
